Need to fill the front plate holes.

Just moved to Florida and I nolonger need my front license plate. Is there a Subaru part# for some kind of body colored plugs to fill these holes in the front bumper? It's not a huge deal but they really bother me.

They are not plugs - the stock bumper is solid there. The dealer probably drilled the holes themselves - most likely to install either a license plate, or their advertisment plate.

I dont think you're right, stock bumper comes with the wholes predrilled....At least my replacement one did...

Go to your local hardware store or home center -- any place that has a nice long row of little drawers filled with little parts -- and pick up two 3/8" plastic hole plugs. Should cost you about $0.47. On your way home stop at the Subaru dealer and pick up a bottle of touchup paint, if you don't already have one. When you get home, lightly sand the top of the plug and then give a few coats of touchup paint. Tomorrow morning stick the now-dry plugs in the holes in your bumper. Bada-bing.

not in california, they come pre-drilled for a front license plate (it's required in cali). plus since they have holes in them, it also helps to encourage you to add a license plate.

Frontplate is a law here in CT too. I've been debating buying one and just carrying the plate around with me in the trunk incase I do get stopped. But I don't really want a 70 dollar ticket or whatever BS it is :(

It was $85 for me :(
I also have tint and loud exhaust, and there is no way I'm taking the tint off. I want a quieter exhaust someday though I guess... but I figured I'd give the cops a little bit less to harass me for :(

So do the cover plates still require you to drill the front bumper for the install?
I had purchased an Autospeed one a while back and was surprised to see the holes matched the plate holes for a US license plate, not the two holes which are in the bumper from the factory, requiring you to drill the bumper anyway (which was what I was trying to avoid) - so I sold it to someone else and did the painted plug thing.

WHAT?!?! i was about to buy one of those things. I thought they came with two screws and an allen wrench to install?
bah, well does anybody have a trim plate that just bolts up on those two holes?

I had the same thought when I bought mine (came with two torx screws and the torx bit for them), but the holes lined up with the holes for a regular license plate, not the two big holes which are already in the bumper, so I decided to pass and sold it to someone else (I picked it up on eBay from someone who probably had the same realization). I was curious if they had updated them or something.

wow that's pretty stupid, why would they sell you the front plate if the torx screws don't work with the bumper holes? as if anybody is going to use it with a license plate.
well thanks, you just saved me $40 and a headache. Great...now I just gotta wait until hopefully somebody makes plugs to fill them in.

i got mine today it looks a lot better than the front plate on there! it does fit without the front plate it just screws into the licence plate holes instead of the big ones!!! the holes are there already so all you have to do is srew it on....

The holes for the license plate aren't there by default - there are little dimples where each hole goes, but you have to drill or use a self-drilling screw to cut through the bumper to put a front plate on.

I don't understand exactly what people are complaining about in terms of which holes the plate uses. If you're gonna put a garnish plate on there, does it matter which holes it uses? Are you trying to preserve the virgin bumper skin? Why, if you are going to cover it up anyway?

I just didn't want to drill the bumper - does it really matter why? Mostly because if I removed the plate for some reason, there would be extra holes there. I just didn't like looking at the two existing holes in the bumper, so I went with painted plugs.
I don't understand why the product was designed such that new holes had to be drilled when there were already two perfectly good ones in the bumper to begin with...

i'm more annoyed about the fact that there are two perfectly good holes in the bumper, why is it necessary to drill them? The plate even comes with two screws, it even claims that it's an extremely simple installation.
DrD, where did you get the painted plugs? or was it a DIY project?

Weird.
My trim plate, also from AutoSpeed, matched up with the stock holes perfectly. Are you sure that you got the right one? The 04 and 03 ones are different, apparently.

In most states, those holes are drilled at the dealership, because the cars get delivered with front plates on them. As mentioned above, those holes are pre-dimpled from the factory, and the plastic there is very thin.
