Peru National Tour

So who is getting ready for the Peru Tour event? I see a bunch of Scoobies on the entry list, but can't always connect the screen names with the real names. I'll be in the blue WRX, #42 STX. Hopefully with shiny new gold wheels (instead of the usual pimp white :p ) if I get my new tires mounted in time.
If anybody wants to get together for dinner and/or drinking on Friday or Saturday night, we can try and hook up there. I plan to be leaving home early on Friday morning, and arrive there around noon, in time for some practice runs.

What shiny new wheels did you get? Are you trying to shave a few more pounds or blind your competitors with BLING?:D

My codriver and I will be there. I'm #99 STX. We're always up for a few beers so track us down Fri or Sat.
See ya there.

I'm coming. #16 STX. Still trying to get my codriver in of the wait list. I'll be getting into Kokomo on Thursday night, and I'll be around for the practice course on Friday. I'm looking forward to meeting you all.
Joel
P.S. I have some shiny new wheels myself that will be getting their initiation this weekend. Volk CE28N, baby. Only 120 days of waiting for delivery

You are wrong, sir! Those were just a temporary substitute because my old tires started cording. The wheels I'm talking about are still in the box, safely stored in my kitchen, but they will have tires on them by tomorrow.
zoomfactor: Well, I guess you'll just have to show up at an event to see what they are! :p Blinding my competitors with the bling was definitely the main goal. They're also a little lighter, and more importantly wider. In addition, wheels are a better investment than the stock market these days! ;)
I look forward to seeing everybody there!

I haven't adapted to the car as quickly as I liked. The WRX is nearly the opposite of my '86 MR2, which was very nimble (if slightly twitchy) at the limit. This car feels stable to a fault at the limit, making you want to overdrive it. You know when it FEELS fast, but you are really SLOW.
It felt pretty crappy spectating at the National & Pro Solo kickoff events, but I wanted to avoid the embarassment -- there I said it.:D
But I'm planning an extensive SE travel schedule for the next year now that me and my girl are on good terms:devil:
Good Luck to all!

What's up Reto? Just wanted to say good luck. Looks like Subie's are predominant, but I several other marques on the entry list.
Congrats on the new wheels (crap- does that mean Elderman will be on wider tires at Topeka? :))! Let us know how you do.

Brock, thanks for the good wishes! Yes, we'll have full size tires again, even though those skinny Azenis seemed to work better than I expected. At least I will be the fastest guy in my car in Peru! ;)
I'm also curious to see how Richard West does in the Mini. Did he run it in competition before? I know that Courtney has been running the car for a while.

The WeatherChannel specifically mentioned Peru/Grissom Aeroplex as having 7.5" of rain this morning!
My co-driver called me last night pleading for a weather forecast since he was stuck in a van under tornado warning sirens!!!!
Today he says he'll be needing SCUBA gear to get good runs! I guess those wider wheels won't mean diddly if the water is still standing!:D
I'm so upset I couldn't make it:lol: .....Lets see, what time to head to Burke Lakefront???

Yes, I was hoping that it would be a harmless little thunderstorm when it started, but it turned into the big flood. Some areas of Kokomo were flooded, and it looked like a few blocks were without power for quite a while.
The weather forecast had been for "scattered thunderstorms", but at least on Friday night and Saturday morning it seemed like they weren't scattered much, but all concentrated over Grissom.
Strangely enough, the rain stopped as quickly as it started. The first two runs of heat 1 on Saturday (which included STX) were soaked, then the rain stopped, and the course dried quickly, it got better by the minute. So for STX Saturday was pretty much a one run deal. Which was kind of unfortunate if you spun out in that run... :(

I was looking at the results online, I guess it was for Saturday. I was trying to see where my friends finished in D-Stock (2nd by the way), when I scrolled down to the STX class, and saw someone with the race team name of Rusty Trombone Racing. I just about fell out of my chair. Congrats to everyone on here!

That was me. I'm glad you got it. Not many people know...
I heard the rain total was 9 and 1/4" on Friday night. Whatever it was, it was a lot. It was still raining for heat 1 (STX) on Saturday, but it dried up after that until Saturday night. More rain overnight, so Heat 1 had to dry off the line again on Sunday. Regardless, the course was fast and fun. I wish I had more dry runs to fully experience the grip level on that surface. It is HIGH!

I guess STS got halfway dry while you guys were wet right? If not then oh BOY is STS fast.
Looks like Mr Meade got his setup working now unlike toe-lead-oh.
I don't think we have had a national event that was dry all the way through YET!

Yes, it must have been completely dry by the time STS ran. For STX it was (at least for me, it got better by the minute): Pouring rain for 1st run. Very light rain for 2nd run, course still flooded. No rain for 3rd run, course partly dry, with puddles.
I also liked the courses a lot, especially the one on Saturday was awesome.

I just wish they made vogues in 245/40/17. They're custom built, yo. I wish I could fit that sweet new Escalade model. Seriously, they named the new tire after the Escalade.
In fact, they are branching out into a whole line of products for the Escalade: http://www.vogue-tyre.com/index-whatsnew.html
My favorite are the brake kits that require "at least 20" wheels." Of course, you should be on at least 20s anyway if you drive an Escalade.
KC - Congrats on your Mazda drive. Any win over Daddio is a good win.

 I need some of these vogue tires!
1) Treadwear Rating 720 <- YES!!! Finally a tire that will last more then 1 season
2) Road Delay Guarantee - Vogue will pay for road service needed such as tyre repair, or replacement. Labor charges, etc. Up to .00 for flat repair. <- Sweet, they reimburse me up to 0
3) Sculptured whitewall with gold stripe, blackwall with Gold stripe, or our new Gold Wing, only. The most beautiful tires in the world. <- I *need* the gold wing on the subaru
It would be sweet to roll on some 20s though........
