Yep can be done and well. Up here in the land of cold the GDA WRXs came with heated seats making the switch even sweeter!
Also, the pass through rear seat is a jem!

A crappy photo but thats all I have right now....

so this bolts right in?

Pass through rear seat would be slick. About how much would one of those run me? :)

Do you have problem with folding down the passenger side front seat for rear seat entrance?

So it appears your car is a coupe, and this bolted in? Any idea/knowledge of this bolting in a 93 L sedan?
EDIT - talking about the rear seats....

The WRX seats a little more narrower then the GC's rear seats so there will be a small gap

is it noticeable if your not looking for it?
| imprezaboi | 07-02-2004 01:53 PM |
its right where it meets the doors but its not like a lot so it isn't the worlds most distracting thing.
| swappedGF | 07-03-2004 11:27 AM |
So you have to drill your own holes to mount it? I assume

No, no, no the seat will mount into the stock holes its just that the seat cushion part in the rear is a little narrower.

Here's the gap in the rear seat.
Also the mounting points are a bit higher on the GD rear seat so a gap is present when you put them in a GC/GM Impreza.

I had these seats in my GC6 for a year or so before I sold it. I've got JDM STi seats in my STi V3 GF8 now and I wouldn't trade them for the world.
JDM > USDM seats anyday. :p

To answer some questions:
Bolts right in - sold my my RS seats to a 96 L and they went right in as well. just make sure you retain your seatbelt holsters as they will not likely be the same.
A set of WRX seats (front and rear) are about $350 US for new condition
The seats fols up fine but unlike the normal coupe seats that slide forward at the same time you have to do that seperately. But otherwise they slide forward quite a lot.
The rear seat fits like a jem - no new mounting points required. There is a slight gap on the side but in my coupe it is not as noticeable. also the seatback is 1 inch taller than the reg. GC8 so you can see a bit of the cushion through the rear window (very little)
And note: if picking your seats up in your car remove your seats first (minus the driver's obviously) and stick the old driver's in the trunk. It will fit if you remove the headrest.

The JDM wrx seats were made for the GC body style, hence the wrx is a GC in other countries. The usdm/jdm wrx seats do fit all around but the usdm V7/8 and jdm V7/8 seats dont fit the GCs correctly because they sit too high in te car. Everything bolts in easily tho.
| OvenMitts | 07-05-2004 02:12 PM |
BostonGC8- how do those JDM seats fit compared to everything else you've tried? (how comfortable, big/small, support...) They look sweet, which year are they from?
| Mumbles | 07-05-2004 03:24 PM |
JDM seats are by far superior in support without a doubt. These particular seats are from a 2002 as far as i know. They sit a bit high but as long as your are under 6' tall you should be fine.
I switched out these seats for my current USDM STI seats, which i can totally tell the difference in bolstering. The JDM seats bolstering are very good and tight. However i'm a bit large for these seats 200+ lbs... so i decided to go for the usdm sti seats. I can take a picture of those as well, however i suspect other people already have pics of usdm sti seats in a gc8.

yea, the GDA v7/8 seats are a no no for anyone near 6 feet .. im at 6 foot and my head was hitting the ceiling.
| kingsubi | 07-06-2004 01:49 PM |
I am 6'1" and I have USDM GDA v7 seats in my coupe and I have no problem fitting as the driver side is adjustable. At its lowest setting I have quite a bit of room and I drive with the seat fairly upright in comparison to most.

does anyone have a solution to creating a lock and latch for the rear pass through?
| Skell | 12-12-2004 11:00 PM |
this thread rocks, I love that interior.. I wonder how much a center console, seats, and door cards would cost me, or even trade..with my current crap.

This is one of my 5 winter projects. Should be easily done for pennies on the dollar.

velcro :D
| lildragn11 | 12-15-2004 02:30 AM |
i was thinking of drilling to holes on the rear top lid of the trunk opening and bending some metal rod to fit and latch into the pass through door, then bolting that to the rear top lid. Hard to explain. Does the velcro really work?

I put my 2004 Seats into my sisters 97 Impreza coupe and no one could get in the back seat anymore.
I wouldn't recommend doing a seat swap like this unless you have a 4 door, wagon or never plan to have anyone over 105lbs crawl into your backseat if you have a 2dr.
Bry.

You can still get into the back seat, it just requires manually tilting/sliding the seat.
| xtorted-legacy | 12-15-2004 09:49 PM |
most people who buy a coupe dont usually carry passengers. Its why you get a coupe. ;) Hell, i am taking my back seats out.

Ok I need to clear this up. In Australia we have a GC8 model WRX. My MY99 is a WRX. But in the states you guys only have the RS in a GC8 model. Am i right?
| AcquaCow | 01-27-2005 09:10 AM |
In the US we do not have a GC8. We have a GC6 and a GM6. Both of those are 2.5L N/A impreza's.
A GC8 is a '93-'01 wrx sedan.
The wrx didn't come to the US until 2002 and it came as a GDB. I think the 2002 and up RS's chassis code is GDE.
There's even a slight argument over the 2000-2001 Impreza RS here as to whether it's a GC6/GM6 or GCE/GME. Some of the 2001 VIN's show GCE on them instead of GC6. I have a 2000 and it shows GC6... *shrug*
This thread starter is just as ignorant of this as is 90% of the people that talk about "GC8's" on this board. All GC8's came with wrx interior's, as they were wrx's =P
