Pimpin in da Legacy! part 1

matthewluke60 09-25-2006 05:25 PM

Pimpin in da Legacy!
Ha kiddos, just put my vinyls on my Legacy.:disco: OMG........the accent of them alone takes the look of the car from barely noticable by the nosiest cop, to bling bling, my decals are bigger than yours! (nah, just kiddin) but they do look pretty good, not too many bubbles. They aren't perfectly even, but you'd have to get a measuring tape to tell, and I put them on by eyeballing them. (be proud of me, this is an accomplishment) anyway. Just thought I would tell ya'll. ;p
Big White

matthewluke60 09-25-2006 07:07 PM

When I get some pics I will put them on my car domain. They are by instyledesign.com if you look under drift style 005. ;p Pimpin. They are just white, on my regal blue legacy GT. Charging camera, take pics tonight prolly.

Blech!
matthewluke60 09-25-2006 08:15 PM

Fixed it, in fact, I took a look at her, and decided, the front part that is slightly uneven, (front door forward) I ripped off. Since the rear part of the decal doesn't go far back past the rear window, that would even it up front to back if I just cut it.....and viola.......I took a risk, ripped it off, and stood back, and now I am like..........pimp. Its not quite as stick out like a sore thumb, but more like an accent. (think it looks better now).

WHEN WILL PEOPLE LEARN, SUBARU'S ARE NOT MENT TO BE RICED OUT!!

I always say "to each their own" but God this draws the line.
jimtweet 09-25-2006 09:33 PM

that is terrible, why would you put those on your car?:furious:
fragment 09-25-2006 09:35 PM

Normally I'm the kind to say "its your car, do what you want" but with the WRX becoming increasingly the vehicle of choice for ricers, I was hoping maybe my Legacy would represent the class of people I mostly affiliate with. Help me out and pull the vinyl.
SubieCubed 09-25-2006 09:37 PM

Omg!!! Why!!!

Amen to that, I was thinking about switching over to a Legacy for that reason. They don't make a lot of ricer parts for them but when people do this its just sad. Why ruin a beautiful car?
matthewluke60 09-25-2006 09:46 PM

Ahem, I'm not one for bodykits...........however, look up GIALLA and under the bodykit CORSA. ;p And as for riced out. The legacy of legacy's is the 200mph group on the Wangan highway in japan going against Top End NSX and various other racing enthusiest groups. Vinyls don't create rice when used in good taste. I don't have sound equipment in my car, in fact, when I get to my final destination in two months I will be ripping the stock system out for weight reduction (as well as a bunch of other stuff too......baby's getting gutted like a pro) Anyway. I like my vinyls, I think they look freakin pimp. And I don't see how they are rice. If you can put up a good explination as to why they are ricey (don't just tack on a billion pics of civics that actually are riced out) I may possibly agree to take them off.......maybe. Plus as to all my buddies........it makes it pretty darn obvious who I am at 2:00 in the morning when cruising the highway.........so they know they can draft me without me getting pissy. (you'd be suprised how many people get upset when you draft them for better efficiency)
BUCKman_02 09-25-2006 09:52 PM

Please for the love of all that is holy remove those or buy an Eagle Talon and put them on there.

mommy and daddy bought you your legacy, didn't they?

do them a favor and stop decreasing their resale value.

stop doing things to your car, wait until you're smarter.

gutting a stereo system isn't 'pro', it's ghetto and rice. your 175hp isn't going to mind carrying around the extra 5-10 lbs, and unless you're using this car exclusively for track and autocross competition, you have no business "gutting" it.

every single civic i've seen this month has been cleaner and less ricey than your car is right now at this instant.

and if you think people 'drafting' you on the highway is a good idea, you should do us all a favor and destroy your license, never step in a car again.

this isn't the freaking daytona 500, things happen that you will not expect when driving and having someone 5 feet off your rear bumper is not going to be worth it in the long run.

you really owe it to yourself to reestablish your viewpoint on cars, driving, and modification.

not to mention the people who share the roads with you and the subaru community everywhere.

i can pretty much garantee that "racing enthusiast groups" like top end NSX and the 200mph+ club on the wangan are better drivers than you and your friends, not by a margin but by a dimension. what they do isn't safe, but what you likely do trying to emulate them is criminal.

You are DUMB. They will be pissy when you cause all of the to wreck because you were trying to "shake and bake". Grow up and Learn to drive.
so they know they can draft me without me getting pissy. (you'd be suprised how many people get upset when you draft them for better efficiency)
Its not called drafting if youre not on a race course, its called tailgating, and its illegal for a very good reason...if the car in front of you stops suddenly, so you dont ram into the back of them. And its really not that efficent, I dont care how high gas prices are...stop riding peoples bumbers!!!!!
Also, Ive seen worse decals then that, but they werent on a really nice Legacy, so that automatically makes this worse. You have a beautiful luxury sedan, dont make it look like that...its just screaming "Pull me over!!! Im young with rich parents who buy me nice things, they will pay for my ticket too!!!!"
moogoob 09-26-2006 01:38 PM

looks like the stickers they use for new cars to stop scratches during transport.
matthewluke60 09-26-2006 05:40 PM

Easy killers......first off. Vinyls are gone........still didn't give me much of a reason why they were ricey, however, a woman I work with made the point of, they were cheap, and everyone has one, so she referred me to a custom vinyl guy who costs like $250 to 400 for a fairly decent job depending on what you want. She got a half body. As for drafting, I have drafted alot of my friends and vice versa on the highway for distance travelling. You don't ride their ass or anything, you give about 20-25 feet and trail, so the smaller car will become more effecient due to less headwind.....blah blah blah. I never meant riding someone's butt drafting. Whoa now. And as for gutting my car.......that is to each person. My rule of thumb for "my" car, look good on the outside, be empty on the inside. (yeah yeah, throw out a few blonde jokes, I know) I do plan to at least do AutoX if not try to hit up as many track days as possible. I'm not running against anybody but myself, and maybe a few close friends, but hey now, I've always had a gutted car, I always will, you may disagree with it, and I know it may make for a boring long distance drive, but hey, my car. And as for my parents buying me that car, my dad is a farmer who couldn't afford a new car, and I saved up for a year on deployment to even put a down payment on that car, so watch your mouth kid, if it wasn't for my kind you'd be driving a volkswagon. (I know there is a good chance half of you are also military, so you'll now where I am coming from) All I asked for is why do you think my vinyl is ricey, and that I needed something to stick out so friends recognize me, instead some of you decided to basically straight up disrespect me.......really appreciate it, thanks, really shows me how subaru people are........as I am coming to notice, I see alot of the holier than thou attitudes, and the I spent $40k in parts to drive to the grocery store, and everyone else but me is an asshat. Again..........really appreciate the help getting into subaru's. (on that note, I hear nissian is coming out with CVT's on some of their new cars.....maybe time for a trade in)

Do use a favor and do that.
sweendiggs 09-26-2006 08:03 PM

Old school suby's had decals stock :)

I'll keep my mouth shut about how I think it looks. At least they aren't flame decals.
Handsdown 09-26-2006 09:24 PM
first off. Vinyls are gone........still didn't give me much of a reason why they were ricey, however, a woman I work with made the point of, they were cheap
way to waste some money there killer.
she referred me to a custom vinyl guy who costs like $250 to 400 for a fairly decent job depending on what you want.
wow, spend more money on the vinyl, great.
As for drafting, I have drafted alot of my friends and vice versa on the highway for distance travelling. You don't ride their ass or anything, you give about 20-25 feet and trail, so the smaller car will become more effecient due to less headwind.....blah blah blah.
yeah... that blah blah blah you skipped over is pretty important. the farther back you are the less 'headwind' the car will deflect. after about 5 feet the effect is actually detrimental on most passenger cars. the drafting concept has to do with a negative pressure behind the lead car due to the aerodynamic drag (drag pulls in all directions)... after that you have a bunch of diffused air that really freaking sucks to travel through because it's not as fluid as normal air... and there's no longer the negative pressure sucking you forward after about five feet... so 'drafting' may seem like a good idea at 25 feet, but in reality you're making it exponentially more dangerous while getting exponentially less 'draft' effect.

so... you're wrong and it's still dangerous.
And as for gutting my car.......that is to each person.
if you bought it, do whatever the hell you want with it.
I do plan to at least do AutoX if not try to hit up as many track days as possible.
good!
I'm not running against anybody but myself, and maybe a few close friends
friends don't let friends street race... unless they're dumb. need i remind everyone about the brother who lost his brother in a street race in illinois? i feel awful for that guy and what he's probably going through... not to mention his parents, or any of their friends.

don't drive dangerously, it's not worth it. and if a bunch of 'holier than thous' on the internet are trying to warn you about the dangers of something they call dangerous- well it shouldn't matter how they're saying it, you should still probably listen.
And as for my parents buying me that car, my dad is a farmer who couldn't afford a new car, and I saved up for a year on deployment to even put a down payment on that car, so watch your mouth kid
well i'm glad you're the one paying for the car you're planning to strip and dephile with vinyl.
if it wasn't for my kind you'd be driving a volkswagon.
and if it wasn't for the people that feed off of your kind of people your kind of people wouldn't be dying by the hundreds, thousands, and millions. sorry buddy but if you need gratitude and patriotism, you'd best serve yourself by looking for it in knowledge and your own heart. faith, religion, bureaucracy, and fraternity can't quell the hell of war, only your mind and heart can do that. so don't put it back on us.

and some of us ****ing are driving volkswagens:lol:
instead some of you decided to basically straight up disrespect me.......really appreciate it, thanks, really shows me how subaru people are........as I am coming to notice, I see alot of the holier than thou attitudes, and the I spent $40k in parts to drive to the grocery store, and everyone else but me is an asshat. Hey man, no disrespect to you, just to what you've done to your car. if you're equating your car and what you've done to it as an extension of your self, that's your deal, i didn't put it there.

have fun with your nissan.
Lazaride 09-27-2006 10:22 AM

Hey kid don't listen to these folks, as right as most of the points they make are, we need you people with your mind set and driving sk!llz to all be flagged in such a fashion I believe it was refered to and accepted as "the ghey" so keep em on and you and your buddy's get good gas mileage together. ;)
