real STi grille vs replica

I am talknig abotu the one peice grille...is it worth the $250? I lvoe the ltitle STi emblem, and it coems painted, and i believe its made out of a higher strength material, but is it worh the price over soem of the replicas otu there? I can get a replica version for $95 unpaitned (if anyone knows where i can get it cheaper, or painted, please tell me), altho its fibergalss and dosent have any emblems on it.

Ahhh $250.....I remeber the day when they were selling for $400. Do you think subaru just lowered their prices over time....NOT!!!! It was price gouging!!
Anyway there is no STi replica....The one that is out there isn't shaped the same
STi Opening /______\
Replica opening \_______/
Both of course have the snout apperance I personally like the STi it's a little more agressive looking and has all the emblems and mesh. +they are perfectly painted.

There are many replicas out there. Look on ebay. They are identical to the real ones. they even have some for 35 bucks and then you can buy the sti badge for another 9. I think this is what I am going to do.

There is no identical STi replica out there! Keep looking ;)
most of the "STi replica" grills on ebay look like the c-west grill.
Most convincing replica yet....sold by GTspec and others

Real STi grill sold for around $250 now

This is my baby...
I think the real STi grille looks much better than the replica. Definitely worth the $250 to smooth out the "stubby" front end look of the car. Add the STi front lip (pictured, $500), and the car is visually much cleaner.
When the STi chrome headlights come in off the boat this month, I'll post more pics... :D

real Sti for sure. I have been debating it too. And really you are not saving that much about 80-100 after you get it painted. mr2guru posted the replica and if you looking the grill has fitment issues.
is it worth it? up to you, but I would rather save a bit more and get the one that you want.

This has been discussed before, you guys should look at Liberal Grill. I think the STI replica looks more like Liberal instead of STI replica. In my opinion STI is really nice because it would actually look nice without a lip
But again, its just my opinion.

ok I am not looking for the "do the search" crap here I am looking for a fast answer to a few questions:
DO the STi ones come pre-painted? If so then the blaze yellow is an option?
Where do I find them?
And last but not the least, do they work with any lip on the market, because I am looking for a body kit and I am not sure what I am going to go with. But I like that grill!

Most STI grills come prepainted. Not in Blaze yellow.
Yes the grill will work with any lip that you want. It will not work with full bumper replacements like Zerosports though.
ANYWAY, I love my replica lip and grill. I am posting pics tonight. It looks very badarse.

I just got this lip and grill installed this weekend. I had the stocker til this weekend.
I will be posting some pics tonight. I got a whole bunch of other stuff since my last update too.:D
I have NO fitment issues with my lip or grill. They both fit perfectly with no work. I only had to do some sanding and usual prep work for the lip. I got both pieces from Ravspec.
The grill is ABS and the lip is Fiberglass. The lip fits better than my old Greddy lip.

does anybody know where i can get the replica the cheapest? also, do the real STi grilles come with colored, or "i" badges, or the regular black star emblem?

mr2guru! You used my car! AWESOME. (w/ the replica grill for everyone else)
Sorry, first time someone else used my car. Cool.

Yikes! You guys don't do enough price shopping! I bought my STi grill 8 months ago, for $217 shipped! Painted with the dark blue star cluster and STi badge. Of course that's a special price, but you could probably get it near that price...

I got mine cheaper as well through a group buy. I was quoting the current average prices for the parts.
My STi grill came with the blue star cluster, but I swapped in an "I" that I bought for $20 shipped.
No matter what you get, take the time to shop around. I usually only buy things if I get crazy cheap deals on them, like through group buys or connections...

I have a few friends in Japan, with car shops. They can just drive up to FHI and get them, and ship...Japanparts.com has them too I think for similar prices...

I personally don't know what shape I like better.
The STi grille connects better with the lower opening, but the "replica" grille connects better with the hood.

Would you buy a "replica" WRX? I know that the analogy is a bit facetious, but generally, when buying real parts, they fit and work beautifully. The price difference is often not that significant. By the time you buy a replica and have it painted (unless you go for the Krylon approach  ), you usually aren't that far off the price of the real deal.
