thanks keith! that thing is a blast. you're yankin my chain if you don't think you have close to 3 bills at the crank too.
congrats on the dominating fast pax times _both_ days this weekend. get me on a course that is a little tighter and doesn't allow you to keep on boost and i'll be closer. otherwise, an sts car won't be able to catch the wrx. ever. still wonder what my car would be like with a quaife though....
kc, you were right about why my times were slower on my second and third run. i was overdriving the corner entry. not so much that i was pushing wide and overworking the tires. rather i was at maximum cornering grip from corner entry until corner exit, leaving me no place to get on the throttle early. my first run i was rolling on the throttle at corner entry. the last two i wasn't able to get back on it until i was nearly straight again. i guess a little less speed through the corner and accelerating ealier is _much_ faster then the "dukes of hazard" method. :D like 1.4 seconds faster.
nate-trying to figure out how he'll keep chang out of his car at the jeff gordon challenge....

Yeah, must be the soft PAX of STX and the cheater tires (Falkens). ;) For those reading this, both days were 95 degrees, sunny, and humid as a mother. I ended up 1st in PAX not only Saturday (140ish people, PAXed by .8) but Sunday too (160ish people PAXed by .25 beating out Solo-X) against quite a few national champions in their classes and top drivers. Glad you liked the ride on the last run (after you already ran all your runs) trying to slow me down! (Which he did by .3) I'm finally feeling connected to the car and the teins. Now if I could only get braking response like the Mazda 6, this car would be unbelievable. Hmmm.... I wonder if they'll fit. :D
Your car will kill my car on tighter courses. I agree to that!

That won't happen. He *will* take it out if you go. I won't be up there tho until Sunday. Can't make it that far out (even with the camping) for another weekend away from home. That would make it 3 full weekends (This weekend, Peru Pro, JG Challenge) in a month that I'm not home. Not good for the relationship aspect of things if you know what I mean. ;) I wish I could go to the JG Challenge and take your car out too!
Good running this weekend.

Now you just need to be fast at national events :)
I had a decent event this weekend at our night series. I was only 0.2 back of eric peterson in his CS ride. Granted this was on a 40 sec course, but I will take that any day!
Now that I have turbo spool again, the car is a lot more fun to drive. I think I will also turn down the front swaybar as I need more rotation out of the POS. The problem is, I just don't want to give up any transition ability. I guess the bigger rear bar really is the way to go, but I can't get it here in time to test if before the Peru Pro.......

what's to test?? put it on and go!!!
btw, what was wrong with the car? why no turbo spool?
as for softening the front bar to get more rotation, i've found that there seems to be a limit to controllable rotation with street tires and loosing control of camber is much worse then having a little too stiff of a front suspension. (not to mention those damn soft sidewalls respond so slow already. the bigger front bar is a _very_ noticeable improvement on my car) if anything, i would try either the bigger rear bar or another 1kg/mm stiffer rear springs. i was playing with rear suspension a little this last weekend and found that the 800lb rear springs were about 2 seconds faster then the 400lb rear springs. now i'm curious what some 1200lb rear springs would do.
what about dialing in another .5* of negative camber??
i also drove an e30 bmw this weekend. those things have _way_ too much caster. the steering feel just off center is _horrible_. i would rather have about 2* of caster and -3.5* of camber then 10* of caster and -2.5 of camber. you'll have to let me take your car around the block in indiana so i can get a feel for something in between my car and an e30 bmw.

Something was wacko with my header. I had a real old model and it was causing low spool.
I agree with you on the front bar idea, thats why I don't want to soften it. As far as camber I already have the max possible. Its more then shenefield runs on his civic  I guess I will just buy that bigger rear bar and throw it on to see what happens.
For next season, I will be either be going up another 1kg/mm on the front springs and another 2kg/mm on the rear springs. Or go up 4mm on both the front and rear bar. Havent figured out which way to go yet........
Youre more then welcome to take my car out for a spin. I'm surprised to see that BMW with only 2.5 static camber. Fitzpatrick was running over 3 even with all that caster. I have around 5.6 degrees caster and lots of front negative camber.

hmm....i thought you were running like -2.5* for camber? the bmw had about -3.0* of camber, but as you know those cars have a _lot_ of caster. don't know the number off hand, but it is a lot. the car seemed to handle ok, it was just that it felt wrong. you shouldn't have to turn the wheel 90* to negotiate a 24 pace slalom! the e36 (fitzpatrick's car) doesn't have as much caster as the e30's do, fwtw.
maybe you shouldn't run those big ass 245's! :D then you'll be able to run like -4.0* of camber and i'll be able to catch your raw time.
kc, put some more rear spring in your car so you can stop spinning that damn inside front all the time!
nate

Thats what I used to run until I did some shaving of the camber plates and now I have over 3. The wierd thing is, that it didnt seem to help that much. I'm still rolling the tire right to the edge even at 48 psi. Hello bigger rear bar. Its ordered :)
Whats wrong with turning the steering wheel 90 degrees to negotiate a slalom? We have to do that too!

Thats 48psi in the front though :)
The back is at 40. I was going to run super high rear pressures, but I don't really want to "patch" my setup if I have the availability to change out swaybars.

(Or am I making things up? That's for you to decide!!! MUhahhahaha)
Yes, this is fun, I'll share my ideas, but only after I see they work and would make a recommendation based on the results, not on a hypothesis.
But since this is also competition, my take on it is this... there's got to be SOMEHTING that I need to keep in my back pocket that can possibly give me an advantage to win. Tom's already got enough points to get into the Finale. He's just being G-R-E-E-D-Y now... trying to PREVENT me from getting to the Finale by winning 1st in Peru.
So yes, neener-neener-neener, I'm not tellin!!!

Yeah big springrates + Peru = broken ass. My 8/6 was pretty scarey but then again, I need to go faster than you.

I fully don't intend to have this car with high spring rates at Peru. Thing thing I want with 'multiple rate springs' is at an event, I can swap them out if I wanted to. Smooth asphalt/concrete, higher springs would work better. ;)

the bumps at peru should be interesting in my car. picture a car with 13k/15k for springs but only weighs 2250lbs. (ok, but the wheelrates are actually like 6k/8k. ) it is still going to be interesting. i wonder if i should put the heavier bumpstops in and raise the car a little? 4" of ground clearance and 1.4" of bump travel 0wn3z!
