Roof scoop installed part 1

WRX Ver.7 11-09-2002 09:57 PM

Roof scoop installed
Well I finally did it. I have not had the guts to cut the hole for the interior vent, but the scoop is installed. Let me know what you think I also have a Prodrive wing on its way from England.

me likes :)
stirex 11-09-2002 10:33 PM

Looks great!
Whats you gonna do with that wing thats on it now?
WRXVII 11-10-2002 01:05 AM

C/F side blinker would make your car look better IMO.... clear side blinker and WRB color just does not match.
hobbzz 11-10-2002 01:33 AM

What hood is that? With the extra scoop...
WRX Ver.7 11-10-2002 02:19 AM

wrxmechman: it is a Kaminari CF wing & I am not sure as to the product number to the wing. It is the one used on the WRC cars. Yes, the Kaminari wing fits the factory holes perfect.
hobbzz: it is the factory hood with the Launsport hood vent installed. PZERO makes the vent also.
stirex: I am trying to sell the wing in order to pay for the new one I have on its way from England.
hobbzz 11-10-2002 02:21 AM

Where can you get either one of the vents?
wrxmechman 11-10-2002 02:30 AM

What kind of wing do you have on there now and what kind of wing are you ordering from Prodrive (H4510FE200PG or SACC2521)? Do either one fit the standard wing hole pattern? And how much is your new wing going to cost if you don't mind? Enough questions. Car looks great.
WRX Ver.7 11-10-2002 02:49 AM

hobbzz: the hood vent can be purchased from PKZero and the roof scoop is a STi piece that a friend of mine bought for me in Japan.
Kostamojen 11-10-2002 03:42 AM

Woo! Sweet rex :) I havent seen many folks go for the WRC look!
Jfrankon 11-10-2002 01:52 PM

rims?
Looks sweet! What rims are thoses and what color are they? Hard to tell from the glare but they look great!!
WRX Ver.7 11-10-2002 03:07 PM

My wife doesn't like your car. I'm sure gonna miss her!
krazedant 11-10-2002 04:13 PM

Is that the MRT FMIC cause I see you didnt have to remove the fog lights..
2nd2none 11-10-2002 04:14 PM

to be honest, i think the roof scoop just doesnt look right. maybe if the sides of the scoop didnt go straight up but were more angled to make it look like it blends into the roof better. :(
WRX Ver.7 11-10-2002 05:02 PM

TRex:
It is a XS Engineering intercooler. The piping is custom made to keep the lights.
mr2guru 11-10-2002 06:27 PM

If I had bought a WRB WRX I would have went for the WRC look in a heartbeat. Your car is awesome. You need some WRC headlights in the worst way. Get the Ociari ones since they better replicate the WRC car.
WRX Ver.7 11-10-2002 07:55 PM

I have a set of Morettes comming from Z-1 and a K2 HID kit waiting for them.
ll ChopSticks ll 11-10-2002 09:50 PM

Your car is beautiful man.

I was going to buy a supra but because of the picture you posted I think I'm going with a 03 wrx.
ll ChopSticks ll 11-10-2002 09:59 PM

I love that roof scoop you have but have a quick question.....

Is the roof scoop secure to the roof I have heard of civics putting them on and having them rip right off on the expressways..??

Thanks
WRX Ver.7 11-10-2002 10:28 PM

The roof scoop seen here is actually drilled & bolted in place. THe interior vent (when installed) will help hold it in place also.

Whoa! whoa! whoa! Put down the crack pipe.....If you have the money for the Supra and it's insurance (assuming you can find a good one). Stick with that plan. You'll be much happier. Assuming you like to go fast and have chicks throw themselves at you.
ll ChopSticks ll 11-11-2002 02:38 AM

I have been looking for a supra for a while now but it was never the right one..... For some reason I have always liked the wrx and evo. Watching rally racing on tv is so cool hahaa.

It all depends if I find the right supra before jan 03 because I really can't wait any longer..... Blue rally wrx's are awsome looking....it has that look that I like.
RA 11-11-2002 04:02 AM

Wow! Awesome looking car
If Subaru sold the wrx like that, i would've bought one.

Now you have to get the morettes and the WRC widebody kit!
civ11c 11-11-2002 04:52 AM

Car's looking good dude!

RA:

Man, the widebody panels on the WRC car is so cool eh? I know a place that makes it for the GC, now I'm waiting to hear from them to tell me if theyre gonna make it for the GD.....

lancer_sau 11-11-2002 05:13 PM

size
just wonderin'

Is the roof scoop used on your WRX the same one used on a GC8 ? I want to put one up as well (for aesthetic reasons....and the ultimate rally look  ), but with the sunroof on my RS, I'm not sure how it's gonna fit.

Can you give me the dimensions of the roof scoop?
mellojoe 11-13-2002 04:23 PM

What size are those wheels? How much have you lowered your car and with what springs?

I like the stance of your car and its about time I began finding out some numbers. :p
WRX Ver.7 11-13-2002 07:42 PM

Mellojoe, The springs are the HKS HiperPro Dampners. The wheel are 17 x 7.5 with 225/45-17. The stance can be adjusted from about 1.5" lower than what it is to nearly 3 " taller.

Wait till you see the '04 WRX..

Nice car man. Very tasteful, but could do w/o the couple of stickers. I'm pretty jealous nonetheless.

WRX Ver.7 11-13-2002 11:17 PM

Ghomer: The stickers are gone. I own my own sigh/graphix company so it changes for different events. Most of the time it is just plain old blue.;)
Ghomer1 11-14-2002 12:10 AM

Cool buddy. I dig the car a lot. Keep working on it....I'll be excited to see what you do with it in the next few months.

MightyWRX02 11-14-2002 10:33 AM

Hey, if ya goin to try and sell that wing, p.m. me a price for it, I'm interested.

Oh, and you're car really does look sweet. Kinda the look I'm going for. Did you have to drill into the fender for the mini blinkers in front of the door?

You're my hero, that's exactly the setup i was looking at, the same wing, the same hood and that pimp asss roof scoop....it looks soooooooo tight!!!!!!!!
PURE EPI 11-14-2002 11:50 PM

Going for the rally car look huh? would you like some carbon fibre wing mirrors to go with that? :D

I would like to find some that look like the ones one the WRC car that do not cost $400.00 (each).
PURE EPI 11-15-2002 01:16 PM

where do you live? would you like to participate in the development process? (should you live close enough that is)
Gravel-Fun 11-15-2002 09:12 PM

Careful ther buddy........PURE EPI is a transvestite! Never know how he will dress when he meets you. Last time I saw him, he wore an evening gown. :)

Christian, I tried every place near me for something close and cheap for your project. No pointed sport mirrors at all in stock...only flat truck type. I hate to do it all from scratch. I need ABS to do your job. Can you find some cheapos near you? Do not spend big $.

Other projects are going well. I need your console, if you don't. I would like to keep mine in for that other project. PM me.

Roy
PURE EPI 11-15-2002 10:50 PM

I have a cool new book from B&N... Fiberglass and composite materials... learning new stuff every day. hope to go to prototype within a month.

Gravel-Fun 11-16-2002 08:20 AM

What happens in a month? Or is it a time goal in general. If answer is "sensitive", PM me.
What happens in a month? Or is it a time goal in general
pretty much just a time goal. I am going to try to circumvent using elaborate mold setups and go to fiberglass first. maybe by then I'll have my school check! :D
Gravel-Fun 11-16-2002 11:03 AM

Can u call me, please? Also sent u an email.
