Sir, your Citron smells like Tapas: Rally Spain Starts Friday! (10/28)
A mere 4 days after the Robot won EVERY SINGLE FREAKING STAGE in France, we have a short hop to Catalunya for another Tarmac Rally.

I'm honestly hoping Panizzi does well on this one, just so he can do crazy donuts for the fans again!

Aye... Leob needs to be banned or tested for mind-altering drugs or something.

Or someone needs to steal his lucky rabbit's foot.
Rallycarperson 10-24-2005 03:15 PM

I really doubt Panizzi is going to do well...especially in a Mitsubishi and when his teammate Gali beat him in Corsica.

I really hope Sarrazin does well though...

New route this year.

It could be an equalizer. All the cards are on the table.
Protege Menace 10-24-2005 04:08 PM

eh, tarmac rallies just dont grab me.

I had last nights rally on but only actually looked at it for maybe 20 minutes :(

gravel FTW
Clavo 10-24-2005 05:38 PM

LOL @ the title. Best one so far.

+1

Can we get some local (EST) times on when the legs start? I hate having to randomly guess when I should hop over to wrc.com to check the latest results.
Weasel 555 10-27-2005 12:44 PM

In shakedown under light intermittent rain,
Duval was fastest followed by Nicholas Bernardi in the Peugeot, Sarrazin and Galli tied for 3rd fastest and Gronholm and Solberg tied 5th fastest

I bet you could hop over to WRC.com and get them ;)

Sir, your Citroen smells like small dishes of various foods served in a way that is ideal for hot dates.

This is going to be very interesting, time to see who does well with no breaks.
Anibalz 10-27-2005 06:09 PM

Panizzi won't be driving in Catalunya, he complained too much about the car and both Galli and even Rovanpera beat him in Corsica. Isao Torii gave the spot to Galli for Catalunya as they'll only run two cars.

All legs start around 8:30 AM Catalunya local time. That's 23:30 PDT, so it's around... uh, 2:30 AM Eastern?

I have the times for all the stages calculated, and could post them here if you would like. Though all my calculations are for PDT. And don't take into account Daylight Savings, since that would be too much hassle.
Predwolf 10-28-2005 02:59 AM

Looks like I'll be able to watch this one.

It better be a good show. It seems like it's Loeb-this Loeb-that. I want to see some good action, like the 03 season ender in GB. That was pretty heart-pounding. :)
Weasel 555 10-28-2005 07:56 AM

rally has started wooweee just finished SS2...
XenoWolf 10-28-2005 08:02 AM

Live rally radio on www.swrt.com (in the 'results' section)...

Solberg is out as of SS3... (UGH!) ... he hit another rock. (Conspiracy?)

Crashed into a bank.

Dammit.

No pressure on Stephane now huh?
Anibalz 10-28-2005 01:07 PM

Stephane Sarrazin rolled his car in the second half of SS6. Not a great weekend for Subaru.
leaknoil 10-28-2005 02:40 PM

Looks like the car caught fire and burned up after the roll. Things can't really get much worse for Subaru this year.
XenoWolf 10-28-2005 04:35 PM

Bah. Atleast Gigi is still in it.. albiet a minute and a half back.

Most likely with a privateer Citroen team in 06. Citroen say they are comming back in 07...

Well, since Solberg is out, this probably means Gronholm will take 2nd in the drivers championship.

Crash477 10-29-2005 01:03 AM

freak-n-a.. Subaru has had the worst luck this year.
turb04 10-29-2005 03:10 AM

great pic
Anibalz 10-30-2005 01:50 AM

Gronholm is out too and also Galli. Gardemeister went out of the road but still on the rally. Man only the Citroens are doing fine on this rally.
XenoWolf 10-30-2005 01:51 AM

UGH! Solberg, Sarazzin, Galli and Gerdemeister... I'll chalk this rally up as a loss. :(
Anibalz 10-30-2005 01:53 AM

Gronholm had the same luck as last rally, he completed all the stages but car broke down before reaching service park. Perforated radiator.
HomerJay 10-30-2005 11:40 AM

Subaru sucks ass this season. Is it tires? Bad driving? What a $hit season. The only way they are going to win the championship is if the top teams drop out. Oh wait, next year.
bemani 10-31-2005 12:25 AM

Congrats to Mikko Hirvonen for his first WRC podium.

Luckily Marcus DNF also, Petter is still ahead of him.

Just watch Sab beat Petter and Marcus in a privateer car next year  Damn robot :furious: He'll probably beat Carlos Sainz # of WRC win record next year quite easily too.
Thumper23 10-31-2005 12:37 AM

good for Mikko

bad for Subaru
FaastLegacy 10-31-2005 12:41 AM

I was proud of Mikko, nothing like showing up the werks boys in a two year old car no less.

Seb is unbeatable, it's ridiculous. They should give him next year's trophy while they're at it.
Anibalz 10-31-2005 12:58 AM
Just watch Seb beat Petter and Marcus in a privateer car next year  Damn robot :furious: He'll probably beat Carlos Sainz # of WRC win record next year quite easily too.
Well, Seb already has 20 victories so far( 1 in 2002, 3 in 2003, 6 in 2004 and 10 so far in 2005)...Solberg has 13 so far, Makkinen got 24, McRae 25 and Sainz got 26. It should be quite easy for Seb to become the WRC Driver with most victories.
XenoWolf 10-31-2005 08:04 AM

... assuming Colin doesn't re-emerge.

Wait, nevermind he'll be driving a Skoda.
steev 10-31-2005 09:18 AM

Time to speculate a little...

Next year's championship:

1.Gronholm
2.Solberg
3.Loeb

I really don't see Loeb getting beat anytime soon. I has his crap together.

No way.

Loeb = Schumi for WRC, as long as the C4 is as good as the Xsara and they aren't running a lemon for 2007.
Rallycarperson 10-31-2005 02:48 PM

Im very interested to see how Loeb does in a privateer Citroen. Assuming it will be the OMV team, they will be using a 05' or even a 04' spec car. It will be interesting to see how he does with a "slower" car.

So whos getting Subaru's second seat??

~Mark
asquaredrex 10-31-2005 03:12 PM

Man, what on earth happended with Galli? Fastest stage and then he drove off the road? He also looked like he had sincerely no idea what happened.
Rallycarperson 10-31-2005 03:21 PM
Man, what on earth happended with Galli? Fastest stage and then he drove off the road? He also looked like he had sincerely no idea what happened.
He slid off the corner right after the stage ended. He probably just rushed through that pace note in the reccee.

I def can see Galli in the near future winning a WRC event.

Pretty sure Subaru isn't changing any drivers for next season.

I'm very interested in seeing Loeb next year. That man is a machine, and like Carlos said, he is one of the greatest. It's unbelievable how good of a driver Loeb is despite the conditions. As much as I want to dislike Loeb, I can't bring myself to it

Duval still isn't sure what he's doing next year. He seems like he has a lot of potential, and I would like to see him return next year. I don't think any team is going to be picking him up though due to him crashing a car for the better half of the season.

And I hope Gardemister (sp?) gets a seat with Ford again. He has a good personality, is a good driver, and if they keep him with the team, I think he could learn a lot fron Gronholm. I will enjoy Gronholms reaction to the Focus though.
steev 10-31-2005 09:34 PM

I truly think that the technical changes taking into effect next season put a big question mark on at least the beginning of the season. I don't suspect the Kronos team to run an '04 Xsara WRC, but rather an '05 adapted to the changes. I think it is therefore hard to tell whether the Citroen will be "slower". It seems that it will at least be as reliable as it has been, and that is always an important factor in securing a win over an event and a whole season. As far as Loeb goes, I am a big fan of his. However, the momentum he has had for the last two years may be disturbed by his situation. Who knows, it may cause a psychological disadvantage? Other drivers may "get into his head" more than before... again, just having fun speculating here. In the end, I think he will still dominate as a driver, but may not be as successful.
greg donovan 11-02-2005 11:00 AM
I will enjoy Gronholms reaction to the Focus though.
i think he will be very fast in the focus. it is very similar to the old 206.
Predwolf 11-03-2005 05:05 AM

The more I think about it, the more I think that the 06 season will be a good one for Subaru. New car, fresh start. maybe that's all Solberg needs?

He needs some time off to relax and get back to the condition he used to be in. We're seeing the wrong type of consistancy right now. That, and Subaru needs to stop having such horrible luck.

Depressing. :(
