STi cluster- SO RARE BABY...

Well, I'll admit the pics aren't the greatest- but ya get the idea. I have, as far as I know, the only STi Prodrive instrument cluster in North America that reads in MPH and clocks mileage- as opposed to kilometers. It cost me out the waazoo, but it's mine. The shift light/alarm is so much fun I am turning into a full on nerd looking for excuses to shift :p
In looking for some answers to how man yof these clusters were made- I ran into a lot of people in-the-know that were quite baffled, as they've never heard of such a thing, much less see one. I'll try and get better shots tommorow.

Was this brand new or was it used? How much and where?
| MK19 | 10-21-2003 04:41 AM |
Came with 3 miles on it- close to $600 and from a individual seller.

Was it plug and play???
Any mods necessary???
Does the DCCD light stay on all the time?
I'm VERY interested in trying to do this, but like you said, it's REALLY hard to come by...

a few people have done this mod already, there is a thread in the electrical forum (i think that's where it was)
but basically, it's plug and play providing you have the right clear cover to incorporate the rev knob, or drill a hole in your wrx one (pretty dicey though) (or else you lose adjusting the rev inidcator and dimming functionality) and you need the temp sensor to make the temp meter work (obviously :p ) oh and the dccd light and the rear diff temp (i think) light stay on all the time so far
irvine subaru sells them for roughly 600 after you get all the stuff (cluster, bezel, clear cover) but they are usually backordered :(
it's the next on my list though
looks good Kopf_Jager :)

Where do you hook the temp sensor up to on the gauge?
Also, the rev light will work as soon as you plug everything in, nothing else needed to do????
I really want this... and $600 is fine with me...

Nice purchase. I was looking for that gauge for the longest time too, as I wanted the red needles to go with my Defi BF Gauges. However, decided to go with the STI V8 Speedos instead. Cheaper, red needles too, and they do the matching full sweep with my gauges when I start the car!

These aren't the same as the ones on the STi, right? As I see they don't turn black when the car isn't on and the gauges aren't red in color.

These ARE the same ones that are on the STi

Is it just me or is there a blue tint to them when the camera is at a different angle?

This gauge cluster was found in the 2001 STI Prodrive-Style car which was available everywhere. It is also the gauge cluster used in the S202. It has a blue background.

The lighting is green, as seen in the poor picture below:

It is totally plug and play and on a 1-10 scale, it is a 1- simplicity :)

Just realised the lights are not bright enough to show off the 'STI' logo at night. What a waste man ... its still really cool though.

it's a waste because you can't see STi at night? please... I can see mine just fine, th epics are just poor quality- I already admitted that.

Yeh you can tell it's because of the camera, one half is brighter then the other :P

Like my buddy says, I gotta get a 4 mega pixel setup or higher. This one is decent at best, but ya get the jist eh?

Well, come to find out- my speedo is off by about 4 MPH or so. Anyone have any ideas how I can adjust that? Or do I have to go and get it calibrated?
| wgknestrick | 10-27-2003 12:16 PM |
A complete waste of $600. It's almost the exact same as a WRX cluster

So this expensive bueaty is plug and plat with the readings too? I'm assuming all of you are putting this in a Rex, where its spedo goes to 140, and this, 160. I'd be putting it in a 2.5 where my dinky speedometer only goes to 120. I don't like the fact that the red line wil be wrong, but I suppose the shift light is a good compromise. (Or the sti logo, since I have nothing sti yet)
