STi Headlight Leveller Switch and Harness

We are currently developing a PNP kit for the STi headlight.
This will allow you to adjust the headlight.
We will be using a OEM Subaru switch and custom making the harness.
How much interest is there in this product?
What are you guys willing to pay?

I'm definitely interested. I think how much we're willing to pay depends on how much it'd cost to make ourselves as a few people have done.
I'm all for the vendor making a profit just as long as the markup isn't unreasonable for the amount of effort put in to the product. Can you give us a ballpark estimate?

Agreed. I'm interested too, but if the price is too high, then I'll just look to do it myself.

Only problem is many people have the projectors and not the sti. If there is someway to make those work, the demand will be ridiculous.
| Newbie Subie | 01-20-2003 02:06 PM |
Absolutely...
I think a reasonable ballpark would be in the range of $100-150
Of course cheaper is better, But I know you have to make a profit.

Ha! The switch costs $40, youw ould pay $60-110 for the harness? Maybe $75 at the most, anything over that ridiculous.

Thats right.
The switch alone is $40-$45.
Only problem is the plug and has to be custom made to fit the headlights.
We will have pricing shortly.

I am interested too, just waiting for the LHD heads to arrive. Please keep us posted Gary!
| JIN | 01-20-2003 03:35 PM |
Yeah, Gary, maybe you can get it out and shipped them together with my LHD lights. That way, I can save costs on shipping and also can install them all at a shot. Any chance they can be done up by then?

I might be interested in this but not for $100+. I understand the harness(plug) is going to be hard to find but for $5 you can cut the wires and make your own w/ molex connectors.-James
| G-force | 01-20-2003 06:52 PM |
too bad these only apply to the LHD versions of the lights as the JDM ones dont have the adjuster motor! :(
exception are the OEM JDM HIDs.

I'm interested in this too. Keep me posted.

Quite interested with a price under $100.
| Vostok 7 | 01-20-2003 08:19 PM |
Can someone clarify what lights have what and will work with this, etc.
I would like to someday get the HIDs or projectors and it'd be nice if I could get the leveler to work.

I'm interested if it is sturdy, clean, and plugs right into the factory harness.
Maybe $100.
Are you gonna hand make or have them manufactured?

I am interested in this leveler, as long as you guarantee that it works for the JDM STi HID headlights.
I would be willing to pay no more than $75. Otherwise, the headlights can be adjusted manually with a little tinkering.

I'd love to get that switch...I've been blinding the people in the right lane and they keep high beaming me after I pass on the left...I can't imagine what response that people with the RHD are getting from oncoming traffic.
and BTW thanks for the lights...they look great...

Hey Pete, you know you can manaully aim these right? You actually have to, the switch is mainly to aim them for when you have more weight than usual in the car and you don't want to blind people. -James

Is that so...hahaha...I just popped em in and left em...
Sorry OT, but if I can adjust manually, I would actually like to raise it a little because is it normal for the lights not to go above the bumper of the car in front of me? I can't even reflect off of license plates on cars with the plate above the bumper...
Still interested in the leveling switch...

You can adjust them manually (and you HAVE to do that before you put the leveling switch on, as it moves both headlights up or down only a little bit).
According to the Subaru Factory Manual:

This means that your lights are too high. There is a link in this thread to very good instructions for adjusting projector-type lights. I followed them, and have killer light output from my Prodrives, without blinding anyone. You adjust projectors a bit lower than the stock WRX reflector lights, fyi.
What's interesting is that there is a 10-foot method, and a 25-foot method. Both get the same result. Cool.
