hey i just put mine on today and it does look hella big I like itnow i need sti headlights

what subydude sent you is a factory hood scoop from japan. the 04 USDM sti hood scoop will not fit. put on what you have.
| silver_rex_4eat | 08-22-2004 07:20 PM |
there is some vendors that sell a hoodscoop that looks like the 04 sti scoop and will fit a bug eye but it isnt a oem sti scoop. Some one made a mold so the top portion is the newer hoodscoop and lower part will fit the cut out in the hood.

I'm thinking that you would like to have the "snorkel" type of scoop on the USDM STis instead of the merely enlarged opening of the JDMs. I haven't seen any with my searching. I personally like the one I purchased from SubyDude. :) (...although I can't "fist" it)  (Still waiting for those pictures, BTW!!!)
I am surprised that an aftermarket version has not been made available by now.
As a word of caution: should you stumble upon one, make darned sure it is of fiberglass-reinforced plastic construction as of the OEMs, and not solely of molded plastic polymers. Otherwise the scoop will warp and deform and you will be displeased. :( Been there!
Best of luck.

Agreed. It seems someone should be making a larger scoop for the 02 wrx. Got the subydude one, quality is fine with mine. But just for air catching and cooling purposes I'd go for a larger one. Have txs tmic. Don't really want to go to a fm.

wow...not too many ppl with a bad review for subydude and/or his products. but IIRC mrt in australia has an 04sti scoop made for the bugeyes. i'm too lazy to search.

Have you guys seen the 4" monster scoop from Daddys?
let me see if I can dig up a pic....
ahh yes....could this possibly satisfy your hunger for a larger scoop?

Here's mine with an MRT scoop. Just posted this someplace else, but what the hell. I love bugeyes.

I wouldn't have thought that the snorkel would look good on a bugeye, but it sure does! I likes!!! Chopped your rails, I see. :D A waist spoiler on your Wagon would add a distinctive flair (mine sure does).
Thanks for the pic!!!

I've thought about the waist spoiler, but I like the back end clean...I'm thinking about shaving the rear wiper. Who knows, I'm pretty happy with where it's at now
| SVC | 08-23-2004 10:30 PM |
I really want to add mudflaps, something a little different. I need to update that pic, it's got a front air dam/spoiler on now that rides about 4 inches off the ground :p

very nice. Scoop looks good. Are those 17"ers. Here is a pic of my wagon. (corrupted somehow). Have a liberal grille on now though.

That big scoop. I don't know. Looks like a whale shark sucking up plankton. I'd bet it works though.

Nice man! I'm a bugeye WRX owner for life.
Rims are 17's. STi sideskirts, rails removed, some DIY paint jobs...etc etc. STi block to follow in the next few years. :disco:

No thats not. I have an STi scoop on mine. As far as the coppers, I drive an open catless downpipe. :) Id think the scoop would be a second thought to the cops. :D

Ive gotten away with quite a bit with my suby wagon. Had a 92 Laser and had police pull out and follow me for no reason. There is a reason most Corvettes you see are doing the speed limit or under.

Mine was a DIY. I bought a couple cans of PSM from paintworld and a lot of clear coat. I think it was about $30 for the paint and clear
