STi Seat pics...comments

Well I finally got them in.....after looking over the old seats and the new ones...the bases are completely different. I was going to swap my old bases, and therefore LHD controls, to the new cushions and seatbacks. Well you can't. :( but, luckily the ride height for the RHD passenger seat is perfect for me on the LHD side ;) So....here they are....

Looks good.
I wish I could find a pair in black, without blue or pink.

I really like the way these feel compared to the stock seats...Those shoulder bolsters really hug you tight. Plus the blue part is suede, so it really grips.
edit: Hey Bill, Why don't you just get the Euro WRX seats? They are the same design and cushions. But they are black and grey. And they are all cloth...no suede.

Hmm, didn`t realize that. I`ll have to look for a pic.
They wouldn`t happen to have air bags would they? ;)
Thanks for the heads up.

VividRacing.com has the fronts for $800 and the front and rears for $1000.

avsport sells then for like $500
| edkwon | 07-29-2002 05:50 AM |
except AV sport does not have any right now and does not get them regularly. They sell thm cheap if they are takeoff seats from euro WRXs being stripped for rally preparation. Otherwise to order a set of WRX seats brand new is like over $1K

Do these have very good lumbar support? The stock WRX seats have none at all.
| PaulRex | 07-29-2002 04:43 PM |
Those seats are really sweet! I finally got to sit/feel them(well not yours but someone elses) at the tri-state meet a week or so ago and they feel great. So soft and grippy in the blue parts, If I ever get enough bread I'm definalty buying those, or the Euro seats at least.

Yes,
The lumber support is much better than the stock seats...It is a little low I think and I am not a tall person either. But good none the less.

So both the driver and passenger seats have height adjustments? I should be getting mine from AV later this week or early next week and am just looking for tips/gotchas in the install. Did you just swap the driver/passenger seats around then?
| 128d | 07-30-2002 10:48 AM |
The JDM STi seats have side airbags in them dont they?
| dwx | 07-30-2002 11:27 AM |
They do not. Only place that has side airbags is in NA I believe.

Damn! I don't want to give up my side air bag.
| mr2guru | 08-01-2002 12:21 PM |
I have heard that these seat mounted side airbags aren't all that great anyway....The curtain side airbags work well but these seat ones are really just satisfy a voluntary side airbag installation for 2002. Seat airbags were cheap and simple. Just what I have heard though...probably just rumors and enuendo anyway.

Got myself a pair of front P1 seats 6 months ago. Got them through scoobynet. Found a guy who just received delivery of his P1 and wanted to change the seats.........so I posted a message, just for the "heck" of it...............and the fellaw answered back.
He searched himself a way to ship to North-A......and his was was cheaper that the lowest bid I found here.........really nice fellaw. Got a fair price......even tough shipping was kinda pricy......but it was worth the shot 200% :D
I just plain LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE those babies. Each time I get in someone else's car, I miss them ;)
I'd love to post a picture here...........but I don't have a digital camera.........for that, I'm sorry :(
Anyways.............if you fellas are looking for a seat improvement.....P1 or STi are the obvious choice....:)

They look very nice with the WRB. So-so with the Platinum Silver.
| RALYWRX | 09-09-2002 07:59 PM |
The side impact air bags are in the seats? I had no idea, I thought they were located in the arm rests on the doors or something. Well that's interestin, so do they just blow through your seat? I love the STi seats (blue) bye the way, nice choice!
| romoranger | 09-09-2002 08:16 PM |
do you feel any major changes in support as compared to the stock ones? i woujld like to get a pair of seats that are pretty much like racing seats, but would like to stick with the subaru colors and style.
| SoLo OnE | 09-09-2002 08:42 PM |
I initially bought the STi seats for looks, I thought they would be kinda uncomfortable and not having the height adjustment on the drivers side kinda sucked.
Well let me say these seats are 100000000 times more comfortable than stock. The seat is also set at the perfect height and allows me more visibilty (seems to be higher).
I would recommend these to anyone.

Does anyone know if the rear EDM seats (black) have the pass-through to the trunk?

* DROOL *
last I checked, the new age seats are listed as $1400 USD a pair for RHD ones. I wanted them in LHD because my current seat doesn't fill the gap under my legs and I want the height adjustment :( *sigh* S/H + Taxes is gonna kill as well if I can justify $1400USD for seats. Can I have a ride?

The Euro seats are actually LHD. Everywhere in Europe (except the UK) cars are LHD. The black/grey seats are the seats out of the regular WRX in those countries. A real find would be to get some LHD STi seats but those are probably harder to get ahold of than the LHD STi headlights. The STi seats that myself and mr2guru have are from AV Sports (www.avsport.net) and are RHD since they came from a rally shop in the UK. If you look at that above picture of the Euro WRX seats, the adjustments are on the left side, and it includes the height adjustment.
| lue v | 09-18-2002 08:13 PM |
nice! where did u get them at..did they come in that color or did u have to custom that color...
| PPower | 09-18-2002 09:46 PM |
Yes, the EDM rear has a pass through. Just thought I'd add something else to the pot. For EDM seats, why doesn't any shop get a relationship with a LHD euro model country for parts? The dealer I've ordered my 03 from can get leather covers (perforated center) for the EDM seats for $1500. Maybe a better deal could be made by a dealer.
Next trip I make down to Panama I need to see if the dealer can work out something to ship straight from the duty free zone to keep cost down. I'm sure some of the merchandise getting to LA shops from Europe pass through the canal already. Any vendors interested? I'm sure some people up there would be happy.

Yeah, having a source for LHD STi seats would make me think real hard about spending $1400USD on them, if not more because I'm sure the vendor will note the high demand and charge "accordingly"
Another route would be to somehow obtain them directly from Subaru in Europe...

How very odd, my MY02 STi has the ski port through to the boot. I'll post a pic up in a few hours ... perhaps this was a difference between the MY01 and MY02 STi?

JDM WRX Seats
I have a JDM WRX (1996). Its got basically the same seats as the STi ones but no STi logo. All black cloth and grey suede.
The lumbar support is excellent. They really are great seats!
They are also relatively easy to get here if anybody wants some.

I just want some LHD STi seats, but the new age would be nice to have if not for the high price.
