Sti titanium 6 speed knob... = sex!

Just got this knob to replace the once factory plastic/leather 6speed sti shift knob... The titanium knob is pure sex.... it's unreal how nice it is and how smooth the shifts are.... since the knob is soo much heavier it feels like i have shifter bushings in...
Freaking thing is smaller in diamater than the ugly stocker, SOOOOOOOO much heavier too!
This knob is awesome, I love it and kick myself that I didn't get it sooner...
Only gripe it's like 30 degrees out and when I shift it is cold as hell to the touch.
I'll post pics later but it's exactly like this...

Felt like letting people know this knob is the ****!...lol
Feeling a little crunked...lol and posting this at 5am..hahha

I thnk its all in the mind for sure!
Yes it is nice but making shifts better would require a short shift... and not a knob.
Mind over matter in this case.

Yeah, as with any metal knob your best bet in the summer is to cover it with a white baby sock or a baseball hat or, basically anything to keep it out of the sun while it's parked.

Do we know what the 06's shift knob is made out of? Can you take it off and take pictures? Just wondering on how it's built.
Thanks,
-Nigel

Is it really made out of titanium? Just curious because I thought titanium was supposed to be hella lightweight.
| Carizme | 02-14-2006 04:27 AM |
Yeah its heavy. Its a solid chunk of metal, not hollow inside.

the stock 05 and 06 knob look exactly the same. so a picture wont reveal much. i put the titanium on the 05 and then kept it for the 06 when i traded up. i also got the 04 style just to have them and it was like $25 on ebay used. two things you notice right away about the 06 compared to the 05 is that the shifter handle is taller and the knob is heavier. it seems to be even smoother than the 05 as far as enguagment feels. I had the short shift kit from subaru on both cars. If i had to take a guess i would say that the 05 knob is aluminium and the 06 is steel.

Any suggestions on where to pick this thing up?
I have seen them but for the most part they are in the $169 area.
Is that pretty much what I am looking at spending??
Thanks,
