Wow, thats tight! Thats about the first body kit besides the OEM one that I think looks good.
jamesohoh7 10-06-2003 07:58 PM

Wow!
Nice kit!! What's it made out of I wonder?... My quick Yen-math says like ~$860 for the bumper?? (flat out estimate... I'm thinking the yen-to-dollar is like ...err 110:1??)

-James
i heard the hood is Carbon.
but according to the japanese they are mainly FRP s

need to double check on those definitely

maybe my bud from Aus can get it first.

btw.. they are not cheap..
subaru kym 10-07-2003 03:13 PM

Mmmmmm.. it's been a long time since I've seen a nice looking kit.

The hood looks like an 02-03 Prova hood, but translated to the '04+ model. Or.. does Prova make the hood?
neednewengine 10-07-2003 03:33 PM

Regarding Burnup
Burn up kit is not a wide body like the WRC car..

It is more of a replica without going wide..

Hood is also just the stock hood with the front vents...

But that does look pretty sweet.

And it is fiber glass...

Hood can be purchased fiberglass or carbon but carbon costs much as buying the real SUBARU WRC HOOD.
neednewengine 10-07-2003 03:38 PM

Sweet car....

Rumour has it stever's plan after the GC8 wide body kit is one for the 02-03 and then the 04. It should come along faster (like 2-3 months) now that he has access to scanning devices.
hyp36rmax 10-07-2003 05:46 PM

man, hahah this is popular! this might be the most sought after bodykit, cause i want it as well! i didnt know it wasnt widebodied though, oh well i hope launsport makes those front fenders for the USDM MY04.

BTW

pardon my newbieness wth is this???

Stever is a very talented man, but I guarantee U it will take more then 3 to 4 months.

I am in no way saying he is slow. I seen hands on how much work making a bodykit is and it is not easy.

Either way Kym, U can see my WRC WIDEBODY WRX this Saturday at Kevins..

IT IS FINALLY COMING BACK TO ME DONE AND PAINTED.

I would post pics but I can't for some reason.

Nope. The only reason it's taken 2 years+ to make the GC8 kit is that it was done by hand. :) With the right equipment, it should be around 3 months or so.

Making a body kit does take an incredible amount of work and dedication, but stever has had experience in the field. He's the senior aerodynamicist at Swift Engineering (www.swiftengineering.com). Not only does he have experience, but he has has access to some of the best hands in the industry.. the same hands doing carbon fiber work for the F1 and Indy cars. Not to mention me helping out some. ;)

Woah, I didn't know you were getting a wide body too? I finally saw some pictures of your car (and its sexy orange-y goodness).

Who's making (or made) the kit?

I don't think it'll be there Saturday, but I'll see it when you get it. :)

Yeap. A wide body kit should include fenders. :) Or you know, something to make the car wide body'ed? :)

now if only I could read the website to order it :)
I want the bumper, hood, all...and would get a wide body kit in a sec if I could.

I already have some 17 x 9 wheels and 255 rubber for the car for next year on the track and AutoX, I want the kit too :)

I need to find it available to buy :)

The name of the part in Japanese is "Front Wide Fender." I can only assume that the bumper is, as well.
Dre2932 10-09-2003 03:21 AM

Thats NICE..
dchou 02-23-2004 01:40 AM

That hood is nice!!!

Does anyone know if the kit includes the entire hood or just the bonnet? Also, that bonnet on the hood looks like it would collect water like a bucket. Doesn't seem like the bonnet is an actual hole into the engine bay. I'm curious as it does look awesome. Especially, if it is not an actual hole, which would mean that the hot air from the engine would not be sucked in by the hood scoop.

Dave
b20z2 02-23-2004 02:22 AM

I don't see the need for the fake camera..
silverF4turbo 02-23-2004 02:56 AM

does that vent hot air directly into the scoop?
dchou 02-23-2004 04:50 AM

Looking closer at the pics. It appears that the hood vent is not an actual hole into the engine. Just a replica. Can anyone confirm?
JIN 02-23-2004 09:10 AM

It looks more like a cover that can be removed anytime its needed to.

If you look here: http://burn-up.vis.ne.jp/nai_ru/cgi-bin/cata/clip.cgi?mode=sview&bango=75 it does vent, it's just the rain shield makes it look like it is covered. Though it would be pretty dumb to have that vent if you are still running a top mount.
hp12c 02-23-2004 11:16 AM

Hey guys,

The bumper and sideskirt are made out of FPR...that much I am sure. I don't know about the hood though.

I have the bumper on order and will have it in a couple of weeks...(they are currently getting ready to ship it out)

I will post pics once I have it painted and everything in order.

Check out this link...in there are a bunch of owner's rides with "Burn-up" parts.

http://burn-up.vis.ne.jp/nai_ru/cgi-bin/users/clip.cgi

This is what sold me on the bumper...

http://burn-up.vis.ne.jp/nai_ru/cgi-bin/users/clip.cgi?mode=setumei&bango=230

Everything is stock...even ride height. (which is what I want to keep)

FYI...those who are interested in this kit, I've gone though a number of sources, i.e. Japanparts.com, Taka Kaira, etc... They all tried to pad the price quite a bit. Taka for example has a good price on the bumper itself...the problem was in their shipping and "repackaging" price. It was pretty rediculous. Ultimately, I ordered through a local performance shop. I have no affiliations with them, but if anyone wants a recommendation, I'd be happy to give it.
dchou 02-24-2004 05:11 PM

Translating some of those sites it looks like the hood vent can be installed with a TMIC. The hood vent comes with a CF piece that blocks the hot air from going into the hood scoop, but allows water to drain out. That is what I got from the web translators. If that is the case I definitely want one of those hood vents. They would be a nice complement to the bumper.

These are the links that I translated:

Hi everyone.

I bought the BURN-UP WRC Replica Aero Bonnet. It is FRP. No Carbon Fibre will be produced by BURN UP.

It Costs me $2,200 Singapore Dollars. Roughly $1,000+ US DOLLARS. It costs more if u get the full kit. U can imagine. There is no wide body on the fenders. If you are interested in Wide fenders. Look at www.chargespeed.com. They do 20mm wider on each side. Cheers!!
