why are you all selling them? If i had the money i would gladly come out and take one off your hands :)
adhowe70 07-16-2006 09:57 PM

I've got a couple reasons that the cars are for sale... the most prominent reason is that Derek and Josh suffer from Automotive ADD. They can't drive the same cars for 2 years in a row.

The second reason is that Josh and Derek don't seem to have really taken to the handling dynamic that is Subaru. Apparently they think only the pit crew should push. :D

Good luck with the sale Derek. What's next for you guys?

Was the transmission replaced in one of the cars? I forgot which one broke at Infineon. I saw these cars in person and they are sick.

The cars are going to be freshened for runoffs including repairing/replacing the tranny on the #23 car. Most of the significant wear parts will be replaced for runoffs. The JRZ dampers on both cars will be fresh, too.

We have finally gotten the cars to handle better and they aren't as pushy as they were at Portland the first time around. As you can see from our results the cars are extremely fast. We ran below track record at every venue this year.

When the rain falls as it did at Seattle these cars absolutely crush!!!! It is great to have a car that's competitive in the dry and dominates in the rain.

Josh and I are planning on running different series next year so no need for a two car trailer. I already have a single car enclosed and Josh has his own.

Both of these cars were completely stripped and the interiors painted in case someone wanted to progress to more modified race endeavors. The cages in both cars are the best you'll find anywhere. We have added oil coolers and brake ducts to cure some of the issues with the cars. They are much easier to live with now!

off topic but can you post a pic of your brake ducts? I've been searching for different ways to route the hosing. btw I talked to you at Infineon at the gas station, not sure which car is was.
RyanC 07-17-2006 08:06 PM

That's a great deal for someone who is looking to go racing without a lot of effort. Good luck with the sale, wish I had a little more budget than I do :)
Derekb 07-17-2006 11:09 PM

Shoot me an e-mail at [emailprotected] and I'll send some photos.

For 1/4 less the price of a racing Viper, you can have an STi, a backup "disaster recovery" STi, and a trailer to boot!

Of course, I assume the sale will depend on the conditions of the cars AFTER the runoffs such that if one or both get punted off the track into a barrier or another vehicle... :D

Don't jinx us! We're hoping to stay clean at Nats.

Easy fix set the diff to full aft and keep your foot hard in it. Of course the rumor is sliding too much isn't very fast.

Cars and trailer are in Kansas City, MO getting ready for Runoffs.

Now is your chance to get one of these cars closer to your home!

Derek
blue blurr 10-02-2006 10:03 AM

Would you sell the trailer seperatly?
JoshS 10-02-2006 01:48 PM

You bet, the trailer is for sale separately. But we need it to bring the cars back to CA if the cars don't sell at the Runoffs. Trailer will be available as soon as it gets back to CA on 10/16.
Derekb 10-16-2006 11:48 PM

Cars and Trailer are just about back from Runoffs. #23 car finished 8th behind 5 pro drivers in T2! Ready to go. Will consider all offers.

You guys need a friend...I think you need a third teammate all I need is a car. I promise to drive it like I stole it...I'll be you gopher...

Matt
spazegun2213 10-17-2006 11:01 AM

good luck you all. You have GREAT looking cars there and if i didn't already have a race car, i would be offering my street sti as a trade for one.
Derekb 10-19-2006 12:05 AM

#23 has a completely rebuilt tranny, too! Would cost well over $50k to build these cars.

-Derek
blue blurr 10-19-2006 04:31 PM

How much were you looking to get for the trailer, and what kind of tow vehicle is needed? (regular hitch or 5th wheel)
leecea 10-19-2006 05:08 PM

The link to their Web site (in teh first post) gives all details. It is a 5th wheel trailer.
Derekb 10-20-2006 01:17 AM

It's actually a gooseneck hitch. I has a B&B turnover ball hitch installed for about $600 in my Duramax. I towed all year with a 3/4 ton GMC no problem.

Derek
JoshS 11-06-2006 10:11 PM

Your bf sounds like a very lucky guy that just might have problems following outstanding logic on occasion. Did you offer him first choice for which would be his primarily?
+10 points for effort.

Derekb 04-06-2007 02:30 PM

My car was at Infineon last weekend. The other car transaction hasn't been finalized so we'll have to wait to disclose the destination.

Send me anyone who is interested.
