Take that All Weather Floor Mat!
Even though the newly designed floor mat has the eyelet for the floor hook it still slips off. With 2 clips and a washer, viola!:

and with a little "hot tires" duplicolor paint pen:

Pretty good move. Too bad my clip is too loose on the carpet already...lol
dibblejr 02-11-2007 10:42 PM

^^ Yeah that clip is the first thing to break.

OP nice job on the washer and clip
djerickd 02-11-2007 10:50 PM

yeah I'm wondering if it will hold up.. here's what the mat looks like alone for reference:

eld4au6 02-11-2007 10:56 PM

those look so much better than my all weather mats :(
jrskeen 02-11-2007 10:58 PM

my mats didnt come with a hole in them...

I was thinking about drilling a hold and just using a large black zip tie to hook it to the floor thing. Might have to get a little more creative now.

Good work on yours, i like the painted letters, I might have to do that too...prolly do mine in blue though...keep with the blue car. thanks for the pics of your DIY!

Diy Ftw!!
turbokonejo 02-13-2007 01:55 AM

How in the hell is your 2002 wrx carpet clip still there  I think mines was lost in the winter of 02. I wish I still had it because my mats always try to go under the pedals
SnoCoWRX 02-13-2007 05:07 AM

Mine is still working awesome, but the first sign of trouble and i think i'll go this route. I don't know about the white paint, but it looks clean. Nice job.
WRX2ning 02-13-2007 07:29 AM

Still have my clip too :) Where did ou order those mats? I think I have seen them for $40 before on an OEM parts distributer's site.
SiFuSpEc 02-13-2007 07:53 AM

Hmm? they came with a hole to snap in? ... WTF
joecerv 02-13-2007 11:00 AM

When ordering the floor mats with the hole, make sure to request the 2007 style. The previous years do not have the hole.
left footed whooten 05-06-2007 06:48 PM

Bumping this up because my floor mats are driving me crazy, too.

Got an 06 WRX wagon in 3/07, came with the all-weather mats without the hole. 2 months later, even after some stints of 80+ degree weather, which I hoped would make them soft and form into the shape of the floor, they won't stay put and it seems like every day or sooner I have them snagging up on my clutch pedal. This makes for hurky-jerky driving and me getting frustrated, having to pull them out from under the pedals.

I've searched and seen that others have gotten the ones with the hole and it still doesn't work so well.

What's more is that on my 06 Outback, the all weather mats fit perfectly and flawlessly, and never creep forward

Mine do not have the hole, and are not as long as the others. They won't reach the hook even if I did put a hole in there. I'd have to trim the outside part to get around the gas door release, or make some ghetto looking extension sort of thing out of zip ties or something similar to reach the hook.

Before I go hacking up my mats to fit up to the hook that isn't very strong looking anyway, has Subaru put out a TSB or anything of the sort, because this is pretty weak. I paid for floor mats that not only don't cover the floor very well, but hinder my driving.

Paging Subiegal.....has SOA done anything or offered to replace them, or am I just stuck with them? Unfortunately I bought the car two hours away, not at my local Lithia, because, well, they're Lithia. Its more of a pain to get down to Sacramento to see if they will try to remedy the problem. I'm reluctant to go hacking into them until I've tried other channels.
tylerzero 05-06-2007 07:34 PM

I think the OEM weather mats suck as far as coverage...especially the rears. I can't wait to replace them with WeatherTech ones.
MarkRx 05-06-2007 09:05 PM

Where did you get the dead pedal, that's a different design from what i've seen out there.

'02 and mine is still intact also! (i'm the second owner of her even...) i did the same thing to my mat, put a washer down, but instead of a nice clip i have a bent paperclip... as soon as i clean out the garage and find my bin of clips i'll swap that out.
Nonijuju 05-06-2007 11:07 PM

The rubber floor mats are suppose to be placed over top the carpeted floor mats. I've had mine like that for months and they don't move.

It looks like the one from kastlekorner.com

Hank3 05-06-2007 11:37 PM

I still have my '02 All Weather Mats. Ever since I got them, I have placed them over the carpeted mats. They don't move and they do a great job at capturing water, dirt, mud, and etc.

Funny...I noticed in the pics above. It says on the floor mat:

CAUTION: DO NOT PLACE ABOVE OR BELOW CARPET FLOOR MATS

I wonder why that is? Potential hazard since it's higher and may get in way of the pedals?
o2sys 05-06-2007 11:44 PM

the all weather mats i have dont have that hole so to prevent it from moving i just put my regular mats on the bottom and the all weather ones on top and prevents it from moving....
Zalthras 05-07-2007 02:25 PM

I bolted one of those free tool thingies that come with furniture onto my mat 8 months ago. So far still working great.

sperry7 05-07-2007 05:43 PM

Subaru all weather mats are not a good choice IMO. Any other set I have tried provide better coverage- (Why are the Subaru mats so dayum small?) they conform to the floor better and are significantly cheaper. I am currently using some I found at Wal-Mart for $10 and they are awesome.
DieselClown 05-07-2007 06:48 PM

man I hate how the floor mat just can't stay put!
left footed whooten 05-07-2007 08:00 PM

Yeah, I think I will be abandoning ship soon on my Suby mats.
djerickd 07-22-2007 10:05 PM

doh!!
Pohenegamook 07-23-2007 09:03 AM

Just get the Weather tech floorliners:

They're awesome and don't move around a bit. Nice and deep too - I let the neighborhood kids use 'em for a pool on the weekends
Magnum626 07-23-2007 09:54 AM

^^Those look like they might be a bit slippery from the pics. Are they?
Worxman02 07-23-2007 10:26 AM

I still have my 02' all-weather mats, and the clip, and i'm the 2nd owner. Mine dont seem to slip around that much. at least from what I can remember. I don't drive my car much in the winter since i'm at school in RI and the car stays at home in NJ.
^^Those look like they might be a bit slippery from the pics. Are they?
I wouldn't call them slippery but I guess they're not quite as 'sticky' as the OEM weather mats because they are a harder rubber materials.

They've been discussed here, most (all?) love them just as much as I do:

That's exactly what I did. The pin job looks much nicer though.
Eppster 07-25-2007 01:00 PM

Yep, just ordered mine. We've had them in the wife's Odyssey for a while...best damn floor coverage available and NOT slippery. Keeps the slop and grime put until you're ready to clean them out.

WRXDriftR 07-25-2007 01:13 PM

The Subaru ALL WEATHER MATS have hollow rubber ridges underneath, there is nothing supporting the raised sections of the mat besides the wall of the ridge. Mine wore thru where my heel rested within 1 year and the rubber actually split open where it would get depressed under my foot.

I pity any barefoot passengers.
