The Crawford R4-CP35R STi Package Takes 2 2nd Place Trophies at the NASA Time Trials

May 6-7, 2006 Lancaster, CA The Crawford R4-CP35R STi package goes to the Willow Springs Raceway for testing and comes home with 2 second place victories for the weekend. It was a good weekend for Craig Dabbs (driver of the Black 2005 STi), running consistent times in the low 1:30s, while showing whos the quickest on the track. Most stock or slightly modified STis were pulling low 1:40s lap times.
With a new MoTeC Engine Management System, MoTeC ADL2 Dash Display, a little gutting and about 100+ more horsepower/torque this track car was ready to take on even the highly modified Corvettes.

The weekend started out with some quick runs just to realize you need gas in the tank to actually race, back to the pits for a fill up... After figuring out those few bugs the car went back out and with Craig Dabbs at the wheel, he was pulling in cars one by one. In no time people were dropping by trying to figure out how in the world this car was passing cars with so much ease.
Craig Dabbs nailed a best lap of 1.31.592 securing 2nd place in the TTR Class (Time Trial Race, unlimited race class) and averaging a track speed of 98.262 mph. Here is a short video of one lap of Big Willow. We will have more in car footage hopefully next week.

More stuff to come tomorrow, including a video of the MoTeC ADL2 Dash. Until then enjoy and if you have any questions please ask.
Cheers,

I think in-car footage is a great way to sell your product and services.
Perhaps getting the video up when you make your press release about race results will have greatest impact.

Thanks for the vid.
I forgot how fast of a track Willow is.
Last time I was there was at a vintage race, not too many fast cars.

620HP would be HP and 620WHP would be WHP, sorry for the confusion.
The wheels on the car are made by BBS and we will have to rely on the owner of the car to supply the dimensions.

Sorry for the confusion as Quirt said the numbers were incorrect, we actually have another R4-CP35R setup making those current numbers and those numbers do not relate to this vehicle.
I accidentally uploaded the wrong version of he video from our video editor. We have posted the new version of the video with the correct horsepower numbers in place. These numbers are at the crank.
Once again sorry for the confusion, we will have more information about the other R4-CP35R setup in the future.

Thanks!

I've been driven around Willow in a '06 ASP Z-06 with open exhaust, engine management, two way Penske's and big Kuhmo 710's ... driven by an instructor, and we were in the low 1:30's ... so WAY TO GO with that STI !!!
What type/size of tires on the STI ...

Thanks for the kind words and putting things into perspective :) Below is the actual time that Craig ran at Willow Springs...
I think the tires on the car are 245-35-18 DOT approved Housiers.

Cool ... that instructor, who gave me 7 laps, fellow Auto Crosser Terry Free ... was 1st in TT-R with his '06 Z-06. BIG CONGRATS to you guys for bring that close in a STI!. Terry was probably on something like 275/315 Kuhmo 710's.

Hopefully we can give it a better run for its money, next time.
Upcoming mods. widebody kit and more rubber :)

To be honest ... it was a bit scary going into turns 8 and 9 at such high rates of speed ... something like 140 ?! ... without a roll cage. An accidental off at those spots would not have been good! Luckily Terry is a very smooth and careful driver ... but with some many other drivers of unknown quality on the track ...
As a Suby owner, I hope you crush him next time!
