On the off chance that there is a body kit manufacturer who is bored and looking for something to do, could you please decide to replicate this...

It could be photochopped from ZERO Sports but I doubt it. TOMMY KAIRA is a bad ass company and I doubt they would do that :)

In Japan, Tommy Kaira is considered a automobile manufacturer since he produces his own sports cars as well as Nissan, Subaru conversions.
Must be nice to have all those choices in Japan... :D although the SCC article on JPN auto taxes is scary...

I just got back from Japan yesterday. Their car ownership system is really expensive and involved. Essentially, once a car hits 100km, people won't buy the car used and the owners are generally too embarassed to sell them, so they get scrapped. Replacement parts for repairs are extremely expensive, so really, once a car hits 100km or about 7 years old, it is done. Nothing but recent cars on the road there and all the cars are clean and undamaged (other than a few rare exceptions). The SCC article probably mentioned the large costs for all the licenses and inspections you need to own a car (gov't inspection, insurance, proof that you have a parking space!)...
I think I'll take the low costs of car ownership here vs the cool cars in Japan any day.

I saw the TommyKaira wrx this summer in Kyoto...lemme just tell you- this thing is pretty f***** cool! They had a couple of 'normal' STi's at the shop waiting to be transformed, and the difference in look and stature is amazing. If only I knew better Japanese- I woulda tried for a test drive!:D :D

Okay I've posted this question before but didn't come up with much. Look at the wing on that TK WRX. I know it's from SOJ because I've seen it on their site under aero accessories. Question is, can anyone get that wing? Haven't seen any vendor post info on it.
| TaiChih | 11-03-2001 12:44 AM |
I can, but maybe that's because I'm a private vendor:lol: Got $1250 plus freight?
| HOK | 11-03-2001 01:56 AM |
are they even adjustable... man thats pricey...
| NeoGeo | 11-04-2001 12:18 AM |
Yeah that is kinda pricy...considering that Sti's full CF wing w/2 way adjustment only cost about 150 more. Thanks for the info anyway, TaiChih.
| TaiChih | 11-04-2001 01:40 AM |
No, $1250 is the price of the STI FUll CF wing, not the TK one. Sorry. Mind you that the STI mid wing is more expensive, around $1800 expensive.
| Conduit | 11-11-2001 01:33 PM |
Tai Chih, am I to understand that you can get these parts? Is there no chance I can get them unpainted if they are not available in black?
| beatEVO | 11-11-2001 04:00 PM |
woo thats ugly
| TaiChih | 11-11-2001 05:58 PM |
They do come in black.:D
| gossamer_monster | 11-11-2001 08:50 PM |
Hey Tai, can`t you get the bumper from SOJ?
It`s listed on their site. Just curious because the yen works out to about $1500.
Bill

| TaiChih | 11-11-2001 09:30 PM |
Let's see it approximately $1500 over there. Then you would have freight from Japan, taxes, customs fees, and then shipping within the US. Plus the small commission for my time and efforts. Who's paying for all that. Not me.:D:lol: It gets incorporated into the price.:D
| Rebellion | 11-12-2001 10:45 AM |
TaiChih.. I'd hate to ask... but how much is the rear bumper?
| TaiChih | 11-12-2001 02:04 PM |
That would be one spleen and.......:lol:J/K. Just the rear bumper would be $1500 US plus freight (around $550).;)
| Conduit | 11-12-2001 02:11 PM |
I guess I am missing where all the extra cost is coming in here. Essentially, you are saying that although the parts cost 3k, it would cost an additional 1100 dollars in shipping? That's crazy, I've shipped front cuts before and they were far less than that.
| TaiChih | 11-12-2001 02:38 PM |
If you can point me to a shipping company that is cheaper (whether by volume space or weight), and IF you decide to buy one, I'll use them and you can have the savings there, no problem. But, are you accounting for the fact that I can get it here in four days when it is available in Japan. I could go the sea-snail route for the bumper(one month+), and maybe save you half on the shipping, but it's up to the buyer. Makes no difference to me, as long as I get the money up front, and the customer realizes that the savings means, longer wait. :D
| Conduit | 11-12-2001 02:45 PM |
Well, that clears things up a bit, I didn't realize you were talking about fast shipping ;) We'll talk again in a while
| Rebellion | 11-12-2001 03:31 PM |
ugh... dammit Subaru bring those parts over here! It's not like they're freakin' aftermarket parts... grumble grumble.
| TaiChih | 11-12-2001 03:54 PM |
Actually, Tommy Kaira is an aftermarket company. Subaru of Japan just has a factory deal with him to sell his parts.
| Rebellion | 11-12-2001 04:10 PM |
oh... SONUVABIOTCH... grumble grumble again... We need a US manufacturer like Tommy then..
like Tommy Smith or Tommy Jones or something
