tow hook through the hood

has anyone heard of somebody having a tow hook coming through the hood?. am thinking about doin that.

I assume that's there to lift the car over the wall when it breaks-down/crashes at the track.
Edit: nevermind - it would need to be centered to do that.

I vote no. tow hooks don't go there. and tow hooks only go on prepped track cars. get into a fender bender with one and you'll know why. :devil:

Nope. It's mounted to the chassis, and it's for towing the car...saw it with my own 2 eyes at D1.

i would be worried about having the tow hook through the hood. first where are you going to mount it? second i would be worried about scratching the hell out of the paint when the cable goes slack or something. third the hole in the hood. i dont know just not a good idea in my book

On that car, that is a functional tow hook welded to a part of the roll cage/chassis bracing. It is in that location to facilitate getting towed out of gravel traps. Feel free to put a similar one on your street car if you like it. It will be slightly difficult to find a mounting location though.

Wow I suck. I would have assumed, since those strut top nuts are only torqued to 14.5 ftlbs, that something mounted in that spot would tear right off.

Strut bar is chassis bracing, but that is not as stout of chassis as I would have thought. In most race cars, there are welded bars up front. Feel free to come look at my rally and race cars for example. And no, none of my cars are near as fast as that Subaru. I can beat it on gravel though. :)

I seriously hope that is right hand drive... even then a tow point that close to the drivers head isn't something I want to be staring at. Imagine the fear looking straight down a well tensioned steel cable right before it snaps. hello decapitation!

am just doin it for looks. when i come bac from florida am gona order one and drill the holes out to make it fit. am not gona take it to the track or anything.
