Vampyr 05-15-2006 04:29 PM

wow... do you need to roll your fenders to get those on?!

Looks like they are too wide for our cars without some modification.
ryanjorunner 05-15-2006 04:34 PM

those sure are some beastly wheels. Hope they fit.

You can get 275's on a 8 or 8.5 (48 offset) wheel on a stock suspension with no problems or mods at all.

Bill - I will be getting my next set of 275's in September just in time for all the "big" events.

what class are you running at Devens? I'll be there too....my first National Tour event :D

would those 275's fit on a stock STI wheel with no rubbing issues? Trying to figure out whan I want to do for an AS wheel and tire in my 06 sti.

I need to borrow 2 of those for my fronts :D
thrdeye 05-16-2006 08:56 AM

Yeah, with the way you were squirrelin' around down at Atlanta, 275's are not a bad idea.
Vampyr 05-16-2006 08:58 AM

So... does this tire/wheel size affect the odometer reading? How close is the diameter to the stock wheels/tires?

Especially since you are/where a hired hand by Hankook. You have to say that even if it isn't the truth! :disco:
SloRice 05-16-2006 09:36 AM
So... does this tire/wheel size affect the odometer reading?
Does it matter??
Scooby South 05-16-2006 10:07 AM
Yeah, with the way you were squirrelin' around down at Atlanta, 275's are not a bad idea.
Not that thats the reason...(No heat)..I corded a 710 in the Center of the tread....about 1/2in long...and could probably get away with running them for a event or 2..I went ahead and pulled the trigger on them now...since I had the money saved...:)..
So... does this tire/wheel size affect the odometer reading? How close is the diameter to the stock wheels/tires?
no...the overall diameter is much the same....and since these are for race only...Speedo stuff doesn't matter...its the W I D T H man..:D...

Bill
rankink 05-16-2006 10:18 AM

Bill - How many runs did you get on your v710's before they corded?

As for the overall diameter when the tires are mounted on a 8 inch wide wheel they are a little taller than stock, but the speedo doesn't matter since they are only used on course anyway.
Imprezivblue 05-16-2006 10:27 AM

yay new rubber!!!

Well lets see...
I'd say about 75+
They were new just before the challenge last year...I bought your old victoracers...then sold those to get these used.....I just corded the one in ATL because of my aggressive  driving style  and the stupid ROUGH as cobb Pavement up there...There were lots of 2 driver events as well...sometimes even 3 drivers...so I got my moneys worth out them...I will keep better track of my new ones...since I have a running log book now...

I am on 90 runs with my 275's v710's right now. The same ones from the Challenge last year as well. From the wear holes on them I think I can squeeze out about 110 runs. Mainly on ashpalt, but included 20 runs on the Ft. Myers concrete.

sorry

I too plan on having a set by the "big" events. and i know they will fit since another white STi hooked me up with his suspension ;)

thanks again bill :D
not on a transition-heavy course :p
Depends on the transistion. Peak Gs on the 315s are a big advantage, but then again the extra width isn't. Of course, so far this year we've been running on tires built in mid-2004 with 3 road race cycles ;)
10th Warrior 05-17-2006 04:12 PM

tires, like a fine wine, only improve with age :)
DrBiggly 05-17-2006 04:49 PM

Bill,
Looks awesome man. I'd love to see a photo of them mounted up and on the car. :)

Well the good news is I don't need any spacers for my meats...so thats a plus.....
Alignment done...Slammed=2.9 degrees neg camber in front...with 2.1 degrees toe out....1.5 degrees neg in the rear...with .1 degree toe out.....VERY VERY VERY NICE.....
Street is a respectable .6 neg with 0 toe in front...the same 1.5 deg neg in the rear...

Sueeeeeeeeeeeeeet...cant wait till tomorrow...

are the megan coilovers considered "thick"?

good luck this weekend.
DrBiggly 05-19-2006 02:43 PM

Bill,
Is this for a local autox or something bigger? That's a lot of change to sort out with the alignment and tire change. It's likely gonna take a few runs to get dialed in. :)
