Where can I get rain gaurds? WRX..

Anybody know where I can get the rain guards that are featured on the WRX in this months Import Tuner? If you haven't seen it here it is: http://www.importtuner.com/features/0301it_wrx/
I hope this is actually a tough question, not something that I should have known about. Thanks.

i'm more interested in the a-pillar gauge setup he's got there. did he just drill a hole into the a-pillar and attach the gauges to the side or are they meant to go on liek that?
either way, definelty amuch cleaner look than traditional a-pillars

I don't think it is exactly an A-Pillar, looks / sounds like the gauges are stuck onto the windshield itself. The wonders of 3M?

Rain guards

You can get them from the UK Subaru dealerships.
There was a guy who did a group buy on them awhile ago. He was a parts guy from the UK. Pretty sure they were more then $60 though.

I guess 60 does sound a little too cheap, but a hundered sounds like too much. Oh well...

The UK part# fr these is E3610FE000 for the sedan,in the catalogue they show only black.,,,,,,,,,# is E3610FE010 fr the wagon.
I punched that # into,,, subaruparts.com,,came up empty.
Im gonna try my dealer on Monday.

US dealers can't seem to access the UK parts for the Impreza, but a US Subaru rain guard is available for Legacys, just not Imprezas. Prices in UK pounds seem to be around 60-70 = ~$100 US, which is about the same as the price from Japan.
I asked for some for Christmas, but considering shipping from the UK, I think it'll end up being more like a January arrival...
PS - the group buy was a disaster -- more than half arrived cracked or broken. The organizer was real good about it, giving prompt refunds, but it just goes to show the possible pitfalls of overseas ordering.

Hey Ron,
This might be your lucky day. I looked for about 4 months for this item. I caught a few topics on it here and there, I was either late for the group buy or just found someone looking for the same thing I was. I even read a long topic about them getting damaged at there final destinations.
Through a member here (Sorry, I forgot his name), I was able to find a vendor.
He is running a special until 12-28-02 so act now or wait until later.

What a great vendor!! He knew about the disasterous group buy. Mine came in perfect condition and double boxed!! Some others just shipped them out in there original packaging.
........Hope this helps

Hey XRW URABUS:
Thanks alot! I just want to make sure before I order them that the "one piece side visor" is the same thing as the "rain guards"? And obviously that is for the pair, right? I could ask the vendor but thought your input might be better!
Thanks alot....can't wait to order these.

Ron,
Most people call them Rain Guards, Vent Visors etc. but the official OEM Subaru name is "Side Visor" and they come as a pair. They have double sided tape on them as well as clips. (NO DRILLING INVOLVED)
The only downside to this is the instructions are written in Japanese. The pictures might help out.
They look great and look 100 times better than those bulky vent visors you see on every other car on the road.

Rain Guards from overseas

102USD from Japan, plus shipping and insurance
would surely be more than 155USD plus shipping from the States... The box isn't heavy, it's volume..
Having shipped light, bulky stuff from overseas before, one gets bit rather hard.

I ran the group buy last year, along with the disaster with shipping last year, so i can answer all the questions ;)
The problem is the packaging itself from SoUK/SoJ - they're long flat panels that are about and inch and a half thick (max) but, really long. Packaged together as a lot to ship to me, its not a problem. but going out from me to members was a big deal.
My solution was to get oversized boxes and bite the bullet on the extra shipping (not that i was making money on them, but that's not the point - the point was that i had promised an item at a certain price and i had taken the money, therefore, it is MY responsibility to make it happen) and throw in massive amounts of styrofoam/packing protection to get there.
I know what the SoUK costs are as I was getting them Straight from the SoUK Distributor, bypassing the dealers altogether *grins amusingly*
the group buy shipped was about a hundred back then. But i know for a fact that SoJ has upped the price of supply to SoUk and SoNetherlands - *PLUS* the US dollar is taking a beating now so it's not going to be anywhere near that price again, unless the US dollar comes back into swing...
Upsides/downsides of the item in question:
- no more bizarre random drop in the middle of the door window when you open it during/after rainy days (for whatever reason)
- you can open the window a crack without getting water in when you run re-circ on the air, and not fog up the windows
- downsides - increases windnoise by a little bit
- can be a hassle to install because it does take some finessing of the rubber seals around the door. Then again, I installed like 10 of these around the NYC area and can do it now in under 20 mins if i had to do them again.
hope that helps everyone !!
Jaime - good luck!
