Torinos are one of my favorites, and they are nice and supportive.

If you are looking at Sparcos, try Roadster ones, they are a littile nicer than Torinos, but that's me.

Other models like Speed , Pista , etc. , are a little more serious.

I have STi Version 6 seats and i love them!
ScreaminFast 07-19-2003 08:50 AM

I'm trying to look for a nice racing seat because I do autoX and track my car pretty frequently. However, my father is a larger man than I am, and I need to find something that is snug for me, but will fit him comfortable because he will be a driver for One Lap too.
Judah 07-19-2003 12:02 PM

I drove a Evo and the recaro's are really nice and snug. I would think if someone was the more on the thicker side that they would be really uncomfortable. I am 6'3" and only weigh 147lb.

Corbeaus seem pretty nice while being generally less expensive than the other ones. Might add that to your list.

i vote for JDM impreza seats....

Lemme clarify. If i had the cash i'd have a nice expensive, bride or sparco seat, dont get me wrong, i would. But you can get the JDM seats cheaper and bolt right in. They are great seats as well.

Is the stock seatbelt ok to use with a racing seat? I've seen the harness bars that go behind the front seats but then you can't recline.
I'd like to be able to recline and will be doing autoX too so a harness would be nice but don't know where to attach it to.
Thanks.
JAXWRXTRTEAM 07-19-2003 06:12 PM

I like Recaro or Arespeed
I like those type of seats. But i would go with Sparco because there so much better and they will hug your bocy even if your driving slow im going to use them but in Rede and Black those
The Ru 07-19-2003 06:23 PM

you can use stock belts with racing seats. Its up to you if you want harness bar and racing belts. theres lots of debate on that.

I have momo street racers...really nice seat. I have a few complaints about them but they look great in the car and they really wrap around you if you're a thinner guy like me.
The Ru 07-19-2003 07:40 PM

These are my 1996 JDM WRX seats

I likem them too. I like to be able to recline though sometimes. my back will start to hurt on long trips. Being able to move around is the key to me.

then abosolutely do NOT buy forzas
The Ru 07-19-2003 08:35 PM

no problem...lol
theJohnson 07-19-2003 10:41 PM

if i were to get a racing seat, id get a sparco sprint or speed. the speed is the street version of the sprint-slightly more padding. non reclinable which is ok cuz i sit straight up. im small also and i think these seats have a snug fit. theyre like 250-300 bucks. oh, and if you get the bucket style seats with the holes for the 4-5 point waist belt, you can unbolt your seatbelt at the bottom and run it through the hole.
MAD REX 07-19-2003 10:55 PM

Yeah which racing seats recline?
The Ru 07-19-2003 10:57 PM

Sparco Torino's do. there the only ones off the top of my head i can think of.

ian
liigod 07-20-2003 04:18 PM

i like the corbeau cr1s a lot... but i would get sparco or recaro if i wer buying again. Better build quialty.
WReXinEfX 07-20-2003 04:57 PM

These are the only seats I would put in the STI.

Cool thanx for all the info...this thread has been busy.
I dont like any of the reclining bride seats compared to the Torino...But which of the bucket Bride seats would compare to the torino's...and still be relatively comfortable..

EDIT: I narrowed it down to 4 seats...Im going to start a poll...

I have Black Cobra Daytona Seats. I find them very comfortable. I am 6ft 4 and weigh about 112 KGs

I have a set of Cobra Opus seats for sale that have the sliders and brackets to bolt right into a WRX! They are black with grey centers, fully reclinable to the mm, and very comfortable. But I would say that if you are over 230lbs they might start to get a little tight. Perfect for anyone 150-215lbs. Pm or email me for details. I just took them out of the car and their ready to go, I'll even ship them if your not local.

For reclinable seats I'd got with the Recaro SRDs. Great support and totally comfortable for daily driving. I've heard differing opinions on the quality of the Corbeaus, but on a budget they can't be beat. Stay away from the Tenzo-R crap and the rice boy junk. Seats make such a huge difference, don't skimp or you'll be sorry.

Recaro SRD -- adjustable...there one of the one's I put in my poll for top 4 seats, but they dont look reclinable...can some 1 verify this ?

EDIT: Oops -- I had SPG's up on the poll...hehe.
Evegan 07-22-2003 02:55 PM

SRDs are reclinable but the SPGs are not. It seems like a non-reclinable seat in a daily driven car that is not tracked would be overkill. Maybe in the 4-door it isn't that big of a deal but in the 2-door RS it's gonna have to fold forward.

Reclinable seems to be the way to go unless you just don't care about ever relaxing in the drivers seat.

Bride Zeta II.....u can't gowrong with this, really hold u well and tight!
Triple S 08-18-2003 01:54 AM

I would say the Cobra Opus are the way to go. I have a pair in my STI and they are comfortable and firm.

Capt Crunch 08-18-2003 08:27 AM

I keep looking at this thread and wishing I could get these damn seats... but I love my side airbags even more. Why can't Recaro make SRDs with airbags? :(
jblaine 08-28-2003 10:33 AM

Has anyone installed the Recaro SRDs and re-mounted the female stock seat belt portion (the part you click into)?

It attaches with a bolt to the stock seat's bottom bracket near the center console.

Totally agree! No complaint from my wife and I after 7 days road trips covering 2000miles.

A local Legacy guy got a pair of Torino and I tried them out.. they are almost exactly the same as my street racers (except the finishes) !
