Who makes WRC replica wide body kits for 06-07 STI's?
Hello all,

I am quite desperate to get my hands on a replica WRC body kit for my new sti.

So far i have found this for WRC replica kits, but they are not wide body! Which makes it look alot worse than the true kit.

This is what i want to acheive

For wide body kits i have found the

APR SS/GT Widebody Kit Subaru WRX 06+

Does anyone know of anyone making true replica WRC kits for 06-07 models?

Will one be out soon?

Cheers.

Hey

Are you guys reffering to this?

Are u sure this is a TRUE wide body kit?

Looking from this picture it looks as if the kit is placed over the original parts.

I want a true wide body kit with the same width extension as the WRC rally car.

Sorry but i need to make sure hehe.
silverwrx666 12-23-2006 03:57 PM

why would you get a limited sti then try to turn it into a replica wrc car?
le wagon 12-23-2006 04:04 PM

i think its a true widebody kit, except for the rear fenders, because you can't just replace those.
everything else looks like it is truly replaced, except for those back fenders
ANashTy 12-23-2006 04:06 PM

what does it matter if it goes over original parts or not?

try asking japanparts about their kits, they tend to know more about them, and as of lately, they have the largest selection of kits for our cars.
Swift2 12-23-2006 05:24 PM

I guess its less professional if it goes over original parts, but im more worried about how it will look with 1 colour, its very easy to see the differences when all the aftermarket parts are in a different colour.

As for why i am modifiying my limited?

Well my limited is not really a limited, its more like a WRX STI with a limited interior really. I got the factory to change it around a little bit from stock.

I will contact japanparts and see whats up :)

Launsport's kit is a true wide body. The wide front fenders are a direct replacement. Even the front bumper has a 'wide version' to match the fenders. Same goes for the rear bumper.

As for the rear fender, it's not a replacement but an add on. To make it a true widebody, the oem fender will need to be cut and molded into the launsport piece to fully utilize the extra space. Or you can just tack it on, and give it that look, but you probably won't be able to run wider or lower offset wheels.

There probably won't be companies releasing a 'rear fender replacement'. Just look at the car, the rear fender is connected to the piece that runs parallel to the roof all the way up to the front fender/door. It will be too expensive and too much trouble to replace that whole thing. It's a good bet that eventually there will be one company that does it, but I'm sure consumers will be paying the price accordingly though.

Even Launsport's CF roof is just an overlay, not a roof replacement.

Cheers for the help all! Very useful forum. Im quite interested in getting this kit. What kind of wheel size would you go for?

I was thinking 18x8.5 or 18x9...... any offset?
El Capitan 12-24-2006 10:25 AM

Just visited Japanparts.com for the first time. I must never go there again... my son's college money might be in jeopardy if I do. ;)

Sooooo much goodness....
Swift2 12-24-2006 08:07 PM

Ive just noticed that the arch for the fenders is much less acute than on the real wrc car which is kinda a downside.

I also heard a rumor that the rear bumper is not TRUE wide... Anyone know about this?

Last but not least, would you think this kit would look really good if i got a body shop to mold the pieces together so that one cannot see the line changes near the door and the rear lights....

:D Thanks all opinions appreciated
topguneagle1 12-24-2006 08:45 PM

a nice wide body but not wrc style is chargespeed just for schits and giggles if you wanted to check them out
Unabomber 12-25-2006 01:04 PM

If you live/work in London, why not drive up to Prodrive and get the real thing?

SentinelSison 09-23-2007 04:01 PM

now thats what I'm talkin about! That there is "The supreme Kit." I don't think that any of the other knock off junk can look as good as that! If the average person can tell you have installed a wide-body kit then it is junk!

Try 18x10 or 18x11.
sauuce 09-24-2007 07:15 AM

^what he said.

you can tuck 9's on 06 impreza without a widebody.
jutes85 09-24-2007 05:10 PM

My bet is that those front tires won't last too long with that amount of camber.

Nothing- it doesn't end in something like .gif, .jpeg, or .png- board doesn't know how to parse it as an image, so it doesn't.

Would you perhaps happen to have any other pics of people who have installed the kit?
My bet is that those front tires won't last too long with that amount of camber.
Thats why you have to have camber bolts, hub extensions and camber plates installed to make everything work. One experts said that the rear could use camber plates even with stock wheels. But nothing replaces a good custom alignment.

You really missed out, on ebay there was a full GENUINE prodrive made body kit for the rear. It was off a show car, and everything bolted right on... I think it went for about 3000 GBP
