With or without STI emblems????

Ok, so I got my STI grill in the mail.... should i leave the STI emblem on it and put one on the back as well? Or go with no STI emblems... With STI emblems, or with out? Let me know!

leave the sti emblem on the grill, but don't put one on the back :)

If its not an STi i dont see the point of having STI badges. Kinda seems a bit dumb and anyone who knows what an STi is will know that your car is not an STI. but thats just my two cents.

leave it on the grill , becuase it's an STi "part" .....don't put it on the back.
I have a STi badge on my grill w STi Scoop ....I'm allways catching some smart @ss remark about it .....but hey ....before anyone knew what a WRX was we old school GC8 guys had STi "parts" on our Impreza's w/ STi badging

I think if you have STI parts then you have every right to put STI badges on the car. STI is tuning/aftermarket not a type of car as it is referred to. Thats just my .02 cents though.

I say take it off and put a red H on just to confuse people:lol: But seriously, I left mine on. STi makes parts, not cars.

I would leave the one on the grill, but not on the rear. No reason to go defacing parts that you may later want to sell.

You could take the "STi" off the grill and buy another WRX badge and put it there instead..
Either way, I wouldn't put em on the trunk...

keep it on the grill
it is an "STi grill" afterall
but I wouldn't take the effort and put an emblem on the trunk

Keep it on the grill. Putting it on the back is like saying the whole car is an STI and you'll catch a lot of flack.

What might be cool is take off the STi and put a FHI logo on.

These are the questions you want to ask yourself:
Will it make you think it is faster?
Will it make you think its better?
What will you tell those that ask you is this an STi?
Will you want to deal with the truth or peoples reactions to the truth?
Are you willing to lie or expand the truth?
How will you respond when someone that knows STi s says you got yourself a poser?
Ponder those questions and then figure out where you really want to put the badges.

shut up. it's an sti part. any true owner of an sti or any subaru for that matter will understand that he's just a subaru tuning enthusiast. sti isn't just a car. it's a tuning community. What about all those GC8'ers with STi all over it, this was before anyone knew what a WRX was, should they take em off now? all in all he should leave the sti on the grill to show its an sti part and show love for the STi tuning community. Subaru Technicha International, it's not a car, it's a family.

I say go for it and put it on as is.
I know I have Sti V8 (it was on the V7 cars in Japan - Spec C) BBS wheels, STi hood scoop, STi V7 complete suspension, STi key.
Does that mean I have an STi? No. Do I advertise that fact? No. Am I rice? No.
Do Honda's with Spoon or Mugen parts make their cars 'rice' because they aren't true Mugen or Spoon cars? No.
Listen to those who have been around the community for a while. STi is just an aftermarket parts company specifically made and backed by Subaru to get around Japanese mandates for production cars. I would proudly wear them on your car and forget all those who don't "Get it."
Nice grill man. :)

Here we go again. :p If it were me, I'd leave the badge on the grille. It's an STi part, so why not. The extra badge on the back is something I wouldn't use personally, but after all it is your car man. I wouldn't think any less of you if you did. ;) Some people have problems understanding that STi is a performance parts company for SUBARU and not just a specific model of car. Just because there happens to be a WRX STi edition doesn't mean you can't leave the badges on your STi parts. Just MHO. I guess by some people's definition I should go out and pry the little screw cover off my V2 lip since my car is not an "STi". I of course wouldn't condone buying an '04 WRX and putting STi rims, wing and badges all over and trying to be a poser STi. That's like taking a v6 Mustang and putting GT badges all over it.

Hm... so , is there something wrong then, in your point of view of course, with someone having STI BBS wheels, STi hood scoop and STi V7 suspension on their 'poser' WRX?
Related note - Went to Chic-fil-a and they lady asked me what nice car I was driving. I told her a WRX :).... then I had to tell her Subaru when she went slack jawed.
See see... I know what I drive ;)

Put the damn things on the Car!
I could care less! But some people do not like the decision that THEY made.
I am speaking from expierience. I had a "Rebadged" Very cool looking truck. It was soo good looking that people that thought they knew this brand of truck well were not sure if it was factory or poser.
It would all depend on the way the question was asked.
People would ask "is that really a "Fill in the blank"?"
My response,"Looks real to me."
"I didn't know that "fill in the blank" made a "fill in the blank?"
My response, "Niether did I!"
"Thats not a real "fill in the blank" is it?"
My response, "What do you think?"
"Where did you get the badges?"
My response, "Ebay" :)
Those questions were for you to think about how you intend to react when people who know tell you that you are full of shat.
If you are offended and become irate it will make you look like an ass and a poser.
If you have fun with it and are able to deflect the real truth successfully the you are just a wannabee like the rest of us, wannabee drivin' sumpin' else faster, better, more rare, more special, more expensive and so on and so forth.
BTW YOU SHUT UP! :D

Do whatever, just realize that these two things are morally equivalent. If you don't care, that's cool..

No! You shut up. I asked first.
Well, you will always run into people who are misinformed and you will always run into misunderstandings. To me, leaving the STi on the grill is just a saying, hey, I'm into my car and it's Subaru tuning community. And even though it's JUST a grill, just wanted to show I'm into tuning.
For example, I have the STi fog lamp covers on my RS. Does that mean I'm trying to tell people I have an STi. No, I just like the looks of the cover more than that mesh hole. And it says I'm into motorsports, specifically that of Subarus. Like all those folk running around with SWRT licsence trims and such. Doesn't mean they are saying they own the rally car, just showing an allegience to the sport.
Have I been asked about the STi covers? Of course. "You don't have an STi".. "I never said I did. Do you know what STi is?"... "". Just leave it at that.
Ok, flame away.

No, I don't think I made my point clear enough. Trying to make a car look EXACTLY like a different, and in this case, higher level model, and attempting to pass it off as such to the unsuspecting onlooker is a poser IMO. Using some parts that happen to fit the car or because you like them better is a different thing. Not that I think about this stuff constantly or pass judgement. :p Personally, I could care less what anyone does. My car has a pretty good amount of upgrades to suspension, brakes and power and I have a GFB BOV on there. Why? Cause I like the sound, so I guess I'm a ricer by some people's definition. Meanwhile even though I've spent tons of cash to actually make the car perform better, I would still get this label from some. The most important thing is that the car puts a smile on your face... my opinion, or anyone else's really is meaningless.

Wow, lots of hate going on here... figured if i added anymore it would be too much, so insted i'm going to say what i think....
i was following a wrx the other day that had an Sti sticker on the trunk.....nothing else, and it was a bone stock wrx. why people do this is beyond me. It's kind of like the whole type-r thing with honda's hell i even saw a tiburon with a type-r sticker on it today! I feel that the Sti stuff can go the same way if let un regulated. But anyway back to this kid that put on this emblem. y?
But here is something else to concider.....It is your car, do with it what you want, and who cares what other people think. Honestly, are you building a car that other people like or one you actually like yourself?
And how is STI just a company? I belive it is more a trim model of a car, look at an Sti... does it have "STI" brakes? no, does it have "sti" seats? no. "sti" wheels? NO. a lot of the stuff on the car is made from aftermarket companies. The sti stuff that is on the car is specific to an sti, thats what makes the car different form a wrx and not just a company that makes parts for a wrx.
If that was the case then all of us wasted money buying an STi cuz we could have just bought a wrx then bought all the stuff that the "STi company" sells. like everything else that is different on the car other then apearence stuff.
So if you are the type of person that buys "sti" stuff to make a nice car and to actually function better. That is great and I personally have no problem with that. or even to look like an sti but without the sti badging then i am even cool with that. No hate here for you.
But if you are the person that buys sti stuff just to make it look like you have an sti and it is no where near then you need some help. people like this need to be delt with. I know, I know, I shouldn't care cuz it's not my car, but guess what. It's just plain stupid to do this kind of stuff when it is no where near what the car is and ends up only fooling people that know nothing about cars. If your like this then I hate you and you don't deserve a car. :furious:
ButtDyno says it all and this thread should have stopped after he said what he did. the only thing that keeps it going is the people that think badges make the car and the car doesn't make the badges. But everyone is intitled to their opinion......You all just heard mine.
i was following a wrx the other day that had an Sti sticker on the trunk.....nothing else, and it was a bone stock wrx. why people do this is beyond me.

I was behind a silver 02 that looked just like mine the other day. stock wheels, lights (did have a melon launcher that i'm sure it wasn't tuned for) with an STI badge on the back, ABOVE the keyhole, and it was tilted sideways. He didn't even bother to look where the real STI badge goes or get it on straight. What an idiot. I can tell he had a BOV and other crap because his car was sputtering and making all kinds of noises. If you're going to give a bugeye the STI look at least get a spoiler !
I have an STI sticker on the window that actually looks pretty good. I don't consider that posing or anything although maybe it is. IDFC.

yea i mean when you and your friends talk about an your car, u would say "i own an STi", so several people call da Subaru Impreza WRX STi, and STi, all of my friends do. to tell u da truth if i saw dat on the grill i'd be like look at the guy trying to be like an STi. you got the grill cuz u like the grill on the STi rite? not cuz it had the little STi badge, so what difference would it make if u took it off, but that is me IMO. but itz ur car so w/e
