Would Love to Convert Sti into WRC car part 1

Would Love to Convert Sti into WRC car
When I get my Sti in the summer, I am planning on converting it into a WRC clone (fingers crossed). In order to do this I would like to see if it is even possible. So far I have information on how to obtain:

WRC hood and front bumper as well as roof navigation box: Burn-Up Japan

WRC stickers: I've seen them around.

Rear Spoiler: Prodrive

18" rally wheels: Prodrive

carbon fiber WRC side mirrors: ???

Front wide body panels: ???

Does anybody know who sells the WRC wide body fenders for the 2003/4 models?

Burn Up does not seem to make them. My last option would be to call up Prodrive but I really expect their parts to be super expensive. I was wondering if anybody has ever seen this modification.

Another question: is the rear quarter panels wider on the WRC cars than the manufactured Sti's? They seem to be the same.

Burn-Up does make wide fenders

Going to replicate the interior as well? Nice carbon fiber dash, etc Cool rollcage? :)

Good luck!

Great info, so there we go. I am always dreaming about this. Just waiting for things to come together as my financial situation clears up in the next 4 months.

I am not going to worry about the seats and the roll cage. Although I would definitely going to chose carbon fiber anyways.

I was never planning on getting the engine modded anytime in the near future. I have never even driven anything near 300hp.

I think chargespeed makes wider front fenders as well.

Take a driving school. ;)

If you this loaded send the car to prodrive for full rally prep. They will seam weld it... and the whole 9 yards.

I am way ahead of you, only I am starting from a 02 wrx.
piker28 02-07-2004 12:05 PM

oh please dont get the new rally wing it will not be cool, keep the sti one or get the old rally wing
Rancid 02-07-2004 12:48 PM

The WRC car has a 2.0L engine. We can trade engines so your engine will be more "WRC".

Well, he said he want WRC style, but the CS fender is not WRC style.
FortyTwo 02-07-2004 01:08 PM

If you are worried about your financial situation, maybe this isn't the project for you. On the other hand, maybe I'm misunderstanting your intentions. Do you want all authentic parts? Just the "basic" look? If you think prodrive is expensive, have you looked at Burn Up? The front pieces alone are a few thousand bucks.

Well, good luck anyways!
totoherbs 02-07-2004 02:33 PM

Heres a link... it will help explain just how crazy expencive this can get.

7. Recaro SPG (full) racer CB seats
8. Take off Prodrive rear 2002 wing

at this point, you're divorced,..dog has run away,.grass is 8ft tall,..

Some 400k into this project,.you come to the realization that its easier to buy racecar already built than to build it yourself. BUT,.if you wanted the experience,.no one can take it away form you when its all said and done. Live for your dreams, and have no regrets,........esp in racing !!

as always,...my .02 cents worth.

hyp36rmax 02-08-2004 02:12 PM

whoa its myles! :D anyhow, in japan wrc replicas are very very very common! and to garner the parts are a lot easier to get, EG: burn up, l'aunsport (body parts). as for internals, im sure they are std wrx\sti's, modified with some degree of tune....

i'm also on a mission to locate me some wrc fenders and 1\4 panels, soon soon soon.... :D
Capt Crunch 02-08-2004 02:19 PM
