I would like a set. how much are they going for? stupid question time, are they street legal? Do I really care, no but it would be nice if they were.
ryball 02-14-2002 05:00 PM

Just two lights?
Subie Gal 02-14-2002 05:03 PM

you can put 4 on there if you want.
this is Glenn Wallace's car... he chose to mount 2...
how many lights you mount is up to you...

you drill em and put em in... Cascade makes the light bar...

Im intrested!!

-Brian
Subie Gal 02-14-2002 07:08 PM

spoke to them and the cost is likely to be in the $300 range + shipping... this is according to Cascade autosport...

*these are custom made one by one...
*hand fabbed/direct fit for WRX/02RS
*hand painted
*bolt on
*do not block air flow
*come with hardware

Just trying to gauge interest etc for Cascade...

joe z 02-17-2002 02:29 AM

el' bumpo
Subie Gal 02-18-2002 11:19 AM

Nice, but...

What happened to the ~$140 one that was offered a few months ago? I was VERY interested in that one, especially for the price. This one looks good, but the price is 2x more than the original!
LVSUBARU 02-18-2002 11:23 PM

I want one for my GC8 Subaru!!!!
joe z 02-18-2002 11:54 PM

i'm interested....:)
westy66 02-19-2002 09:28 AM

whoh... thats the nicest one ive seen yet... pretty spendy tho' :(
Subie Gal 02-19-2002 10:31 AM

hey guys... i'm not setting prices here...
i guess they completely re did the design...
and it was more complicated & detailed than the original..

this is what they are willing to build...
for now just for the WRX/RS 2002 chassis...
i'll double check on the other applications
I would prefer this to what i have on the RS but it's a bit late now isnt it :( ??? ;)

here is a look at how it bolts up underneath:

more pics on the subiegal page: for sale section...
but there's still no firm price yet...
i'll try to speak to them today.

thanks for your interest.

LVSUBARU 02-20-2002 02:34 AM

Looks good! Any plans for a GC8 version........
wolf8314 02-20-2002 05:05 AM

bump
Subie Gal 02-20-2002 10:22 AM

I am sure, if there is enough interest, they would certainly do a GC8 version...

**also note, this lightbar is not for Performance Rally use... it's for TSD and street use only... ** Rally requires a different set up...

the point behind this bar is that it bolts right up!
no fuss
no drilling
doesnt block radiator... etc...

you wont find a light pod, etc cheaper.... ;)

Subie Gal 02-20-2002 08:18 PM

awesome.... it may be time to go place a request/order :)

Jamie
Whites Performance 02-22-2002 11:45 PM

street use?!

Why would you spend $300 on a lightbar you can't really use? Street use? What's the point. It mounts to stock locations? The underside of the car you showed was not stock! There is a lightbar posted by me (smokinwagon) that is cheaper and designed for rally use. Look at the previous threads in this forum for details. Our lightbars are built and ready to buy. We are not checking we are selling.
Somber 02-23-2002 01:25 AM

hmm,

so nice of you to drop in and hack on another person's offering Whites Performance...

first - don't see anywhere that these are only "Street use", in fact the pictures on Subiegal's site look like they've had the car "out and about" with the bar and the lights on...

second - the bottom of the mount is bolted on through to the same holes that Primitive skidplate is - which is mounted at stock locations...

anyway, hope everyone sells a bunch of bars...

I'm definitely interested Jamie, but I think I'm going to hold off until I get a few other things sorted out before I drop on the bar (decisions on headlights/driving lights/ fog lights as well as chosing what rally lights I might want)... so - thumbs up on the product, but won't be ordering one soon...

thanks for letting us know...
Whites Performance 02-23-2002 01:47 AM

Not hacking just observing differences. Jamie states that there are none cheaper, there are(ours is $199.95). She says herself (see below) they are for street only! Also the picture showing the lower mounts is of a modified skid plate. I was just wondering if it was mounted at stock locations.

Hmm, I just saw this and realized ive hit some walls while parking my car a couple times all ready cause I cant tell where my hood ends... I need one of these for defensive purposes without the lights on my old L!!!
syank 02-23-2002 05:14 AM

Hey Whites Performance :monkey:

Real professional of you to come post that someone's product is horrible and useless, and that they should buy your's instead. If you have your own product, thats great, post about it in your own thread. Why would you rip on someone else's product in their own thread and then promote yours? Not a great way to do business if you ask me.

Subie Gal-

The lightbar looks great. I really like the design. If I had the money I would order one right now. To bad I don't. Hopefully they will catch on, and I will be able to get one sometime in the future, when I have the money. Keep up the good work.

-Steve
Subie Gal 02-23-2002 11:10 AM

Dont worry about this whites performance guy hacking and hijacking my thread... :D i'm not.... It just shows how immature, unsecure and unprofessional he is :) anyway, i can make him disappear if he doesnt stop it.... i hope i am being clear? ;) :D

The bolt holes used are indeed the stock holes on the car...
Glenn's WRX (pictured) also has installed a Primitive Racing skid plate, so that's what you're seeing there underneath the car... (www.get-primitive.com - - buy one!)

see this!!! Glenn off'd his car at 70mph into a snow bank at a TSD rally last weekend...bar, lights and bumper are just fine people!
[img]http://www.i-club.com/forums/attachment.php?s=&postid=1521795[/img]

The reasoning behind this statement of not being PERFORMANCE, meaning Club or Pro Rally sound, is that there is a possibility that if you bonk something w/the light bar at 100mph, it could damage ya bumper! most PERFORMANCE rally guys are keen to this and use something called LIGHT PODS

i'll start a Group Buy thread gang....
thanks for the positive feed back, and...
have a good day! :)

Whites Performance 02-23-2002 11:18 AM

Again, I did not say how "horrible" her product is. I was only pointing out that their are other bars out there for less money and more sturdily built. Her bar looks good but seems hight priced, as others have pointed out. I do have a thread about our bar on this same forum. we get bashed by people just like she does, it is the nature of the business. If I had called hers junk that would be "bashing". It's not. By the way, how did you get the personal picture of you flipping us off on your post? cute!
Subie Gal 02-23-2002 11:22 AM

Dont know what you're talking about? flipping what??

*this guy aint all there is he?* :D

Jamie
www.subiegal.com

Perhaps at the higher pricepoint this might actually happen!
as before, I'm in. :)
westy66 02-25-2002 09:18 AM

ive been hunting for a light bar and personally i think White's bar looks like azz anyway... two lights are mounted at 45 degree angles and the others are upsidedown

...wish i had three hundred bucks :( ... shucks!
Steve-oWRX 02-25-2002 10:28 AM

A little note on the terms "street use" and street legal" concerning fog lights: adding a "bar" on the bumper of your car is perfectly legal as long as the license plate is in clear view (obviously). The deal with fog lights is that a vehicle must have a running set of headlights at all times at night, and up to ONE pair of foglights. Mounting extra foglights on your car is legal, but using more than one pair at a time is not.

Stevo
Adhesiv 02-25-2002 03:44 PM

Saw Glenn's car in person today. The pictures do not do the light bar justice. It simply looks incredible. Definitely gives it the ol' rally look. No problems figuring out what the WRX is built for after looking at Glenn's car.
Kostamojen 02-26-2002 03:53 AM

Can I get the maditory Scoobie Guru 75% discount? :D

Chunky_Chicken 02-26-2002 12:26 PM

Forget the light bars, those are Ralley 4000's aren't they!!

Can you get those for a good price?

I like the bar, but I don't usually buy that kind of stuff. I'd rather make it myself. I do particularly like how you have the loop around the rad opening, but then I also like how Whites wraps under the car allowing for a skidplate to wrap up the front. Two extra loops to protect the fog lights would be sweet too.

What steel are the bars being made of. Looks like 1", whats the wall thickness?

Good Stuff,
-Pete
Subie Gal 02-26-2002 01:03 PM

not sure on the tubing specifics... i will ask the master ! :)

and hellas... never seen them cheaper than

www.rallylights.com
if you do find them cheaper, let Ken know, he'll match or beat most prices!!!

have fun

Pinochle 02-26-2002 01:59 PM

Those are the Hella Luminator Xenons. Very expensive lights.

So I'm guessing that since this lightbar is in the Dress-Up & Style section that it's not a very strong setup. Or is this thread just in the wrong forum?

GooseMan 02-26-2002 02:39 PM

SubieGal...does that lightbar only attach at the bottom? or is there another bracket holding it near the grille or something? Looks a little flimsyish....

I was wondering the same. Vibrating lights are annoying.

Also, does someone want to point out where White's Performance was out of line? Seems to me he was raising the "compitition" issue which is good for us, the consumer.
Pinochle 02-26-2002 02:50 PM

Oh... and a few questions for Whites Performance...

Do you make a lightbar that will work on a GC8?
How many lights can that hold?
Are modifications required for installation?
Price, shipping and availability?

Please PM me so that no one cries about getting useful information. :)

Thanks.

P.

edit:

I have to agree w/ Jewbaru. I didn't see anything offensive about anything Whites Performance posted. In fact, I thought the posts were very courteous and sincere. With the consumers in mind. :)
Subie Gal 02-27-2002 06:14 AM

pix are on my website -
the bar attaches inside the trunk, stock bolt holes...
bar is solid... no vibrating...

i am not selling the bars, just advertising for the company that will be selling them... doing them a favor really as they dont like rifling through the multitude of questions and i dont mind so much..

and i know what's going on w/Whites Performance...
no worries there! Whites/Tim is an ok guy!!! :)

oh....dont you mean HOOD instead of trunk? :p
Subie Gal 02-27-2002 10:09 AM

oh yeah... doh! my bad...
was up waaay too early this morning...
anyway, mounts are solid enough

my mounts on my RS wiggle a bit...
no real way to fix that...

i wish i had waited for something like this to come along...
but maybe i'll upgrade :D

Hey Guys! Thanks for the support of our posting here. We were only trying to be friendly competitors. We do have our own thread in this same forum. Please, see it instead of posting on here. We did not intend to overtake or "hijack" this thread. We will PM all who had questions for us here. But, in the future, refer to our thread and let Jamie run with this one. By the way Jamie, you say Tim is an OK guy. Thanks for the compliment but, how might you know this. We do not remember having talked to you on a personal or business level. We would be happy to do so to confirm your nice guy compliment! Good luck with your lightbar sales. Hope to see more of ours than yours out there! (just kiddin') In the end we are all trying to help the Subaru community get bigger and better! Thanks again for letting us invade your space! SEE YA!!
