WRX wagon side bars (GF8) - not available in the US
FYI I'm working with Lisa (aka sugar) at Troncalli Subaru to get the old school WRX wagon side bars.
I know some of you go rail-less and others leave on the OEM OBS side rails and cross bars, but I think the side bars would be a nice touch.
Here's some examples
Stock OBS roof side rails and cross bars (my car)
[img]http://www.i-club.com/forums/attachment.php?s=&postid=1735665[/img]
Stock WRX wagon side bars.

I think they would be the ticket to setting my car apart from the rest (when the body work is done.
Anyone else maybe interested in these as well?
Maybe a GB could be put together?
Thanks - Jon

Roof rails also needed here
Omaha,
I've been looking for these rails ever since I got my OBS also. My wagon is also going through the STI version V wagon body conversion. I've tried everywhere for these roof rails. I tried the UK websites, Damaged cars from Japan, even MRT in Australia. No luck so far. The only source right now that I am working w/ on finding these roof rails is Lachute Subaru. They said they might be able to source these parts. I'll let you know or you might want to email them also. I have actually retrofit some legacy roof rails to my car. It looks okay but I'm still trying for the original. If the WRX wagon rails weren't so expensive those might fit. Keep me posted. I'm also in for a Fuba antenna let me know.

Current Pricing from Lisa:
Rails $60.89 each (need 2)
Slats $17.96 each (need 4)
End Caps $8.38 each (need 4)
I'm working on discount GB pricing and finding out if these are a FHI (available in the US) part or not. I'm also going to test fit (eyeball) WRX side bars this weekend.
Thanks - Jon

New Age
I was wondering the same thing. I was looking at a WRX wagon next to my car and it looks like it would swap over. I think the main thing would be to have someone who has removed thiers let someone with an old skool wagon try them. You could also have Lisa compare part numbers of new age to old age.

i have a pair of new age rails i would get rid of.........how's 50 bucks? I even have the old moldings that you could chop up to try and fit......

If possible I would like first dibs...
I'm interested in these roof rails. let me know. I will go to the dealership today and see if they are the right lengths for my 99 impreza wagon. But I'm definitely interested.
Omaha,
Are the new WRX rails the ones that Sugar is quoting you on or are they the GF8 wagon rails.

That's the best Price sugar can do.
These are the GF8 rails.. it appears they are standard on the MY95 OBS here in the US.
Sorry though, didn't get to test fit a locals WRX rails...

I was looking for those about a year ago. I never had any luck. About a month ago, while at a friends house, a old man drove by in a white old GF wagon and it had those rails on it. I guess the guy lives in the area because he drove by several more times that day. I got a decent look at it when he was at the stop sign infront of the house, and it WAS that rack. Did a small number of cars come over with this feature in the 93-96 time period? I don't know, but I will watch the junk yards!
Later,

Well we can't do GB on the I-club unless your a vendor... It's possible I'll go through subee-sound, but we'll see.
Can I get everyone interested in one of these Antenna's to PM me?
I'll get with our supplier for these kind of things and see what they have and post pics if I can.
Thanks - Jon

Omahasubaru,
Those would be cool and likely quieter. I wish I had got them instead of the regular OBS ones last fall. I looked for some but they were likel $400US to be imported from Holland. I may be in for these as well.
There is a problem that I see. The OBS rack requires the std. drip molding to be removed and cut from the front of the rail to the rear. If you remove the OBS rack and put on these rails you will be left with a gap. I foolishly forgot to ask for the cut piece of drip rail when I had mine installed. Big mistake. How much would a piece of drip rail cost?
How much would crossbars cost?
What do you mean by slats? The luggage stips mounted on the surface?

GF8 roof rails
Jon,
Are you sure these are the correct roof rails that Sugar is speaking of?? I called her and asked if they were similar to the WRX wagon rails and she said NO. I hope she is talking about the correct rails. I also have been seaching everywhere for these roof rails. I am planning on emailing her the pics of the roof rails we are talking about.
I would also be interested in a fuba antenna for my car... Please reply,
Thanks,
PJ

I'm going to talk with my supplier today about these antennas and see what the cost will be.
I'm considering moving this post over to rs25.com so I don't get stuck with some fees, or don't get shut down.
I hope to have saved enough money to at least get the antenna and install it and provide step by step pics and instructions. I really want to get the JDM style sidebars on too, but don't see that in the current budget as I need a turbo, intercooler, & ECU before I go working on looks. Maybe I'll get luck and be able to make the WRX bars fit.
I'll keep everyone posted I hope to know something before I leave for pike's peak next weekend on the antenna's and their discount.
Thanks - Jon

Don't be surprised... I'm the exterior specialists at subee-sound.
Just an FYI. I'm doing this because I-club likes to charge 10% on most Group Buys, so if I host this else where, we will all get a better deal as I plan to do the first batch at the price I can get them, no profit for myself, them I may just stock them after that and up the price and have it become a regular item.

Whatever happened to the side bars? I'm thinking that I want to swap out my side rails and get the bars. I'm really not excited about having a $2k mountain bike on a rack that can just be removed with some phillips screws.
Have we actually gotten anybody to do this yet?
I can order it up to try it out.

GF8 roof rails
Stimpy,
Check Rallispec. I emailed them about getting these STI Version V wagon roof rails and they said they could get them for about $370 dollars for L & R sides. email them and they might be able to help. I'm gonna order these also for my wagon but i need to get my turbo and intercooler in first. Good luck.
What about the Fuba antennas?

Anybody else? I'd much rather pay the $200 something from Lisa as opposed to an sickening $400 from Rallispec.
These bars were a stock part on the 1995 Outback Sport? Any part numbers? I suppose I could hit the dealership tonight and see what I can dig up...

My dealership was no help. They attempted to look it up in their parts system and it referred to the accessories catalog. That catalog shows the '95-'99 Outback Sports with all the same part numbers... the common rail system.
Any help out there?

I have no help to give... I'd make sure sugar can verify what they are... if the part numbers are the same, then they aren't likely different. But then again there is that pitchstop mount that is the same number, but different between cars.
I've decide to get some Impreza L smooth strips... SO if you've got an L and are planing to get a OEM rail kit (will come with new strips) I'll gladly buy your stock smooth strips, shoot me a PM..
I'm looking for some Impreza L wagon roof strips if anyone has some too unload.

FWIW, the other day I saw an L wagon with the rails you guys are looking for. The guy that owned it didn't seem to be into modding his car. Quite interesting... I was thinking maybe it was stock for one year or maybe a limited run L. Pretty neat to see though.

So i went to my car dealer and asked him if he could poke around and see what he could dig up for part #'s.. (The guys great.. fluent in Eng. and Japanese...) I will also take a look in Junkyards and see what i can do about a set of them.
